Position Description
Performs varied and complex duties in the daily operation of a Clinical Simulation Center that include collaboration with educational departments and course instructors in developing, programming, and operating simulators for assigned exercises. Reviewing the feedback and assessment of the tools and equipment used for simulation curriculum. Support the tracking of various metrics including utilization and course/session assessments. Maintaining ongoing inventory of all medical equipment, consumable supplies, and manikins will be a priority for all simulation specialists. Provide ongoing preventative maintenance, along with constant repairs of all simulation equipment.

Major/Essential Functions
- Coordinates simulation center schedule (including OSCE, sim and classroom) in compliance with simulation center policies working to prevent scheduling conflicts.
- Programs simulator software to model simulator's physiological response to instructor specifications.
- Operates patient simulators and cameras for the duration of simulations.
- Operates and maintains audio-visual and debriefing systems.
- Sets up and takes down simulation laboratory equipment. (May involve rapid turnover of simulation lab set up.)
- Sets up and maintains computer-based training programs
- Communicates effectively with faculty, administrative staff, other simulation center staff, and learners.
- Sets up and maintains surgical/procedural simulators
- Provides theatrical production (costuming and moulage) for simulation scenarios as requested.( Mixes fake body fluids and creates wounds).
- Provides technical assistance, support and training to faculty, instructors and staff in use of simulation equipment.
- Provides technical support for task trainers and multimedia peripherals including: (Beds/examination tables, head walls, patient monitors, and other health care equipment • Medication dispensing systems • Vital sign monitors)
- Maintains current knowledge of simulation/lab equipment catalogs and operation manuals.
- Collects data for ongoing research or grant requirements.
- Communicates effectively with manufactures regarding maintenance, repairs, updates and technology changes
- Collaborates with supervisor to organize, maintain and restock skills lab and simulation laboratory supplies.
- Maintains simulation activities and learner confidentiality.
- Provides recommendations on equipment, supplies and materials.
- Maintains and repairs all simulation equipment, including: • Patient simulators, computers, monitors and a variety of medical equipment. • Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and contacts vendors as needed.
- Remains current with all licensure, certifications and mandatory compliances and trainings required of this position.
- Adhere to all policies, procedures and practices (Regents Rules, TTUS, HSECEP OPs, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of basic simulation and medical practice and procedures
- Accurate & skillful use of personal computer, and assigned software
- Detail oriented, performs satisfactorily under pressure of deadlines
- Demonstrates knowledge of institutional policies and procedures in curriculum implementation
- Knowledge of TTUHSC mission, purpose, and goals
- Must have ability to stand, walk, and/or sit continuously perform essential job functions accurately & safely with minimal supervision
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization

Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree with coursework in a related area plus two (2) years related full-time paid experience; OR a combination of related full-time paid experience and/or education to equal six (6) years.
