About the Department

Deliver hands-on training that prepares students to earn their National Safety Council (NSC) Forklift Operator Certification. The instructor will teach both classroom and practical components, emphasizing workplace safety, equipment operation, and compliance with OSHA standards.

Position Duties

• Deliver classroom instruction and hands-on training in forklift operation according to NSC Forklift Operator Certification guidelines.
• Ensure all instruction aligns with OSHA standards and college safety policies.
• Administer written and performance-based evaluations required for NSC certification.
• Maintain accurate student attendance, testing records, and certification documentation.
• Set up and inspect training equipment and materials prior to each class.
• Provide a supportive and professional learning environment that promotes student success.

            Communicate student progress and concerns to the Program Director in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in material handling, warehousing, or industrial equipment operation.
• Current Forklift Operator Certification (preferably NSC or OSHA-compliant equivalent).
• Demonstrated knowledge of forklift safety standards and inspection procedures.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Preferred:

• Prior teaching, training, or workforce development experience.
• NSC Instructor Authorization for Forklift Operator Training (or willingness to obtain prior to hire).

Experience with multiple forklift types (sit-down, stand-up, pallet jack, etc.).
