Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical (Travel)

Location: Roswell, NM
Job Type: Travel Contract
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 3×12 Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, every other weekend)
Pay: $2,030.40/week
Completion Bonus: $2,500 per contract (up to $7,500 after three contracts)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) for an auto-offer travel assignment in eastern New Mexico. The RN will provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on a busy Med Surg unit, with occasional float coverage for step-down or overflow patients in other departments.

This position offers a guaranteed 48-hour schedule option and the flexibility for block scheduling when available. Candidates must be reliable, detail-oriented, and capable of managing up to seven patients in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to medical-surgical and step-down level patients
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans
• Administer medications, treatments, and IV therapies accurately
• Monitor vital signs, telemetry, and patient responses to treatment
• Collaborate with physicians, CNAs, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Cerner EMR
• Ensure adherence to infection-control and patient safety protocols
• Float to other units as needed, including ICU for overflow or progressive care patients (rarely required)
• Participate in patient education and discharge planning
• Support teamwork, communication, and high-quality patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active New Mexico RN license or Compact State RN license (required)
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med Surg experience (required)
• BLS (required); ACLS (preferred)
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR and Mindray telemetry systems preferred
• Strong critical-thinking, assessment, and communication skills
• Ability to manage a patient ratio of 1:6, occasionally 1:7
• Must be able to work every other weekend and 12-hour night shifts
• Fingerprinting required prior to start (agencies must be registered with the state of New Mexico)
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and recent tuberculosis test required.
