Description

The MRO Inventory Specialist manages maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) inventory by ordering, receiving, and stocking supplies to ensure maintenance teams have the parts needed. Key responsibilities include tracking inventory levels, conducting cycle counts, initiating purchase requisitions, manage vendor relationships, and maintaining accurate records in a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). This role is crucial for keeping operations running smoothly and minimizing downtime and ensuring the reliability of the plastic extrusion equipment.

Requirements

 Role and Responsibilities / Essential Functions

  • Inventory management: Maintain and organize storeroom, update inventory records in a CMMS, and ensure parts are stocked according to established procedures and reorder points.
  • Receiving and Stocking: Receive, inspect, and verify incoming parts and supplies against purchase orders, then stock them in their designated locations.
  • Issuing parts: Distribute parts and supplies to technicians based on work orders and document the transactions within the CMMS.
  • Procurement: Prepares and submits purchase requisitions.
  • Record keeping: Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of all inventory, transactions, and maintenance data.
  • Cycle counting: Conduct regular physical inventory counts (cycle counts) and reconcile any discrepancies.
  • Reporting: Generate reports on inventory levels, parts usage, and other relevant metrics.

Required Skills / Abilities / Competencies

  • Strong attention to detail, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with maintenance and purchasing team and vendors
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Technical capabilities related to inventory management systems CMMS.
  • Ability to work with physical materials, sometimes using equipment like a pallet jack or forklift
  • Must have a solid work history showing the ability to maintain a good attendance record
  • English proficiency /fluency is preferred
  • Spanish proficiency is a plus

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in maintenance, inventory, or a related field preferred

Mental/Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Intermittent periods of working on a computer, crouching, kneeling, working in confined areas.
  • Ability to lift 25 - 50lbs
  • Required to tolerate working environment with temperatures more than 100 -105 degrees Fahrenheit during late spring and summer months.
