We are currently seeking a Director of Data Engineering and Analytics to lead and shape Xanterra Travel Collection’s data vision, strategy, and execution. You will partner with leaders across Parks, Tours, Cruise, Corporate, and Operations to transform data into actionable insights that drive business growth and operational insights. You will build and mentor a high-performing data team, define and scale our analytics frameworks, and advance a culture of data-driven decision-making throughout the organization. You will also play a key role in advancing our enterprise AI strategy, partnering closely with the stakeholders to support the integration of AI-powered capabilities across the business
Responsibilities:- Define and execute Xanterra Travel Collection’s data and analytics vision and roadmap, aligning with company-wide priorities.
- Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing data team, including analytics engineers, data analysts, and data scientists.
- Foster a culture of curiosity, rigor, and continuous learning.
- Champion the use of Power BI to deliver dashboards, visualizations, and ad hoc reporting that support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Develop and scale robust data models, pipelines, and reporting frameworks to support self-service analytics and experimentation.
- Lead the team in Agile sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives, and backlog grooming
- Partner with business stakeholders to intake, assess and prioritize across business portfolios.
- Manage relationships with the core third-party vendors supporting the data and analytics platforms
- Develop and oversee the budget for analytics initiatives.
- Partner closely with Legal and Data Governance Compliance to ensure contracts with third-party vendors align with company policies, compliance standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Define and enforce data governance standards to ensure quality, accuracy, and security of data assets.
- Oversee data architecture decisions, infrastructure investments, and performance optimization.
- Champion best practices in data privacy, compliance, and ethical use of data.
- Create ad-hoc reports as requested in a timely and accurate manner to provide actionable data to application users and senior level managers.
- Identify new opportunities for innovation and growth through advanced analytics and data science.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for data-related projects, fully understanding processes and their impact on the overall business; analyzes, identifies, and implements potential process and systems enhancements to create efficiencies and reduce resource allocation for routine tasks, procedures, and reports.
- Work cross functionally across the IT organizations to assess and assist in data warehousing, analytics and best practices.
- Work in conjunction with the department leadership to formulate and verify technology standards, implementation plans, and schedules that meet the requirements of business units, property level organizations, and the corporate management team.
- Provide support and assistance to the Xanterra Incident Response Team as needed and requested.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- 10+ years of experience in data and analytics roles, including 5+ years in leadership positions. 8+ years of experience with business intelligence and analytics tools (i.e. Power BI, Tableau) Proven track record of building and scaling data teams and infrastructure in high-growth environments.
- Deep understanding of data architecture, data modeling, and analytics engineering. Familiarity with visualization and BI platforms (e.g., Power BI). Mastery of SQL and strong familiarity with modern data tools (e.g., dbt, Snowflake, Fivetran, Airflow).Experience working with cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure, Snowflake, Fabric, AWS)
- Knowledge and prior experience with common security and privacy standards – PCI-DSS, GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA — and implicit integration of these security standards in all aspects of your work.
- Expertise in data strategy, architecture, and governance, with deep understanding of modern data stacks (e.g., Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, Airflow)
- Ability to help build and manage a small team of analysts and developers. The individual should be able to mentor, manage, track the progress and communicate on behalf of their team.
- Capacity to work effectively in a fast-paced environment where project priorities, task deadlines, and assignments can change quickly and with little notice. The individual must be a self-starter who can work with minimal supervision while working within the guidelines set by their supervisors.
- Demenstarted ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business requirements and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Posession of a strategic mindset with an ability to balance vision and execution. Excellent communicator, simplifying complex data for different audiences. Passion for empowering teams and democratizing data across the organization.
- Ability to effectively manage difficult or emotional employee interaction situations; responds promptly to user needs and to requests for service and assistance; fulfills commitments.
- Experience serving as a key departmental leader and the organization as a whole on areas concerning technologies and other spheres of influence.
- Demonstration of strong analytical skills including the ability to plan complex system-related projects.
Compensation: $150,000-$165,000 plus eligiblity to participate in company’s incentive plan.
