Built Solutions, a Mercer Zimmerman affiliate company, is a dealer for customizable prefabricated interiors – providing walls and ceilings, window shades, and more to elevate the form and function of interior spaces.

As our organization continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Controller to lead accounting and financial operations for Mercer Zimmerman and Built Solutions. This position will play a key role in ensuring financial accuracy, supporting strategic decision-making, and maintaining a strong foundation for continued success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, benefits administration, and bank reconciliations.
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare, analyze, and present financial statements, budgets, and cash flow forecasts to company leadership.
  • Monitor and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and performance metrics.
  • Work closely with outside CPA firms on audits, tax preparation, and compliance requirements.
  • Oversee commission reporting and reconciliations for sales staff and manufacturer partners.
  • Provide financial insight to support operational decisions, cost analysis, and profitability tracking by manufacturer line, customer, and sales territory.
  • Lead or assist with implementation and improvement of accounting systems, reporting tools, and automation opportunities.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting support staff, fostering accuracy, efficiency, and professional development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field (CPA preferred but not required).
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in construction, distribution, sales, or manufacturer’s representative environments.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online, ADP, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly and effectively to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Integrity, accuracy, and a commitment to confidentiality.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a proactive, hands-on approach to supporting company goals.
