A Day in the Life

This position is an exciting opportunity to work with Medtronic's Diabetes business. Medtronic has announced its intention to separate the Diabetes division to promote future growth and innovation within the business and reallocate investments and resources across Medtronic, subject to applicable information and consultation requirements. This separation provides our team with a bold opportunity to unleash our potential, enabling us to operate with greater speed and agility. Join the Diabetes Operations Finance Team at our Juncos site, supporting manufacturing and operations with a production cost of $500M+. As Finance Program Manager, you’ll partner with site leadership and the Sr Finance Manager to drive operational excellence through financial insight and stewardship. This role supports direct labor control, cost accounting, operational metrics, and shared finance activities of the site. Located at Juncos, with occasional travel as needed, you’ll play a key role in ensuring financial accuracy, robust controls, and actionable analysis within a dynamic, high-impact environment.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs and analyzes financial modeling, economic research, trends and studies subjects such as rates of return, depreciation, working capital, cash flow, investments, and cost against budget, variance analysis, forecasting, financial planning and expense comparisons by analysis of profit and loss statements and/or income statements.
  • Prepares reports of findings and recommendations, compiles and consolidates financial plans and provides insights to management.
  • Develops, maintains, and establishes operational specifications for financial information systems considering such things as information flow, volume, ad hoc reporting, and analysis.
  • May provide analysis on business development and may monitor business performance by unit, division or group.

Financial Planning, Analysis & Reporting 

  • Perform and analyze financial modeling, economic research, and trend studies (e.g., rates of return, depreciation, working capital, cash flow, investments, cost vs. budget, variance analysis, forecasting, financial planning, and expense comparisons). 
  • Prepare consolidated financial plans, reports, and recommendations, providing actionable insights to management. 
  • Deliver accurate and clear financial results and comparisons at period end. 
  • Support financial reporting, close processes, planning, and analysis for Juncos site operations. 
  • Complete ad-hoc and standard reporting processes (e.g., cost down initiatives). 

Cost Accounting & Performance Management 

  • Support cost accounting activities, including variance reporting, standard creation, and collaboration with other sites for universal standards. 
  • Analyze and interpret financial performance, making recommendations on resource allocation and operations to maximize results and establish targets. 
  • Remain current on key operational projects and activities, incorporating them into forecasts, analyses, and target setting. 
  • Partner with Value Stream Operations to drive initiatives improving yield, labor efficiency, balance sheet optimization, and total cost reductions. 

Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement 

  • Actively engage and communicate with Value Streams management and the broader finance organization. 
  • Provide financial reporting, decision support, and education to Juncos Operations leadership and Value Stream partners. 
  • Attend Tier 3 and Tier 4 meetings to discuss relevant financial KPIs, escalate issues, and support MPS and Gemba management. 
  • Partner with Diabetes Operations Finance Team, FP&A, and leadership to harmonize and implement financial practices, policies, and changes across the network. 
  • May provide analysis on business development and monitor performance by unit, division, or group. 

Financial Systems & Controls 

  • Develop, maintain, and establish operational specifications for financial information systems, ensuring robust information flow, reporting, and analysis. 
  • Support implementation and maintenance of internal control procedures, policies, and practices to safeguard corporate assets and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting. 
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, accounting practices, procedures, and regulations established by federal and local laws. 

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor Degree
  • Requires minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Finance and/or Accounting, or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

Nice to Have

  • BA/BS in Finance or Accounting with Operations Finance experience 
  • Experience with financial/reporting and manufacturing systems (e.g., SAP, Hyperion/Essbase, etc.) 
  • Experience and/or ability to lead and operate within a complex organization and with various levels of management 
  • Strong results orientation and bias for action, including a high degree of initiative and self-motivation in understanding business needs and leading/developing others to meet those needs  
  • Ability to translate ideas and financial results into concise presentations for senior management 
  • Proactively seeks ways to improve results through cost reduction (both standard cost and costs not in standard), increased margins, improve mix, and effective capital management  
  • Strong Cost Accounting knowledge
