As a Senior Electrical Engineer at Innovative Aerosystems, you will play a key role in the design, development, and sustainment of advanced aerospace systems. Your primary focus will be resolving Diminished Manufacturing Sources (DMS) and parts obsolescence across acquired product lines. This includes identifying Form-Fit-Function alternatives, conducting trade studies for part replacements, and executing complete board redesigns when necessary.
In addition to obsolescence management, you will support the design and maintenance of automated test equipment used to debug and verify product functionality. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy, applying strategic thinking and leadership to complex technical challenges. Success in this role requires collaboration across engineering, procurement, and management teams to ensure timely delivery of project milestones and alignment with company goals.
Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Design, analyze, and test analog, power, RF, and digital systems
· Perform hardware testing, data analysis, and troubleshooting down to the board level
· Conduct failure analysis and develop corrective actions
· Develop and execute test plans and procedures
· Support procurement by identifying and resolving parts obsolescence issues
· Generate technical reports and trade studies for replacement components
· Design, debug, and maintain automated test fixtures and systems
Education
· Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering required
· Master’s degree in electrical engineering preferred
Work Experience
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in aerospace or a similarly regulated industry
· Hands-on experience with bench test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, waveform generators)
· Proficiency in automated test equipment using LabVIEW and/or C/C++
· Experience designing custom board-level, box-level, and system-level test sets
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Familiarity with industry standard PCB design software tools (PCAD, Allegro, Altium, etc.).
· Familiarity with IPC design standards is a plus
· Deep competencies within analysis and circuit board troubleshooting
· Familiarity with component selection and sourcing is highly desired
· Knowledge of applicable FAA regulations including DO-254 or applicable military specification
· Ability to always comply with the company’s safety and quality policies
Additional Requirements
· Should be proficient with Windows PC usage, Office 365, and source control applications
· Able to communicate effectively with written and oral skills, interpret data, read & write, speak in front of groups, express & exchange ideas, understand direction and adhere to procedures
· Organizational skills will enable planning, prioritization & achievement of goals especially of importance for the successful execution of related activities
· Read and interpret data, information and documents
· Must maintain the ability to work well with others in a variety of situations
· Must be able to multi-task, work under time constraints, solve problems, and prioritize
