Description

Putnam County Hospital is looking for a full-time Respiratory Therapist to join our team. This position will be benefits eligible, working 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Job Summary:  The Respiratory Therapist will administer respiratory care and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary system deficiencies and abnormalities and will train and act as a resource for respiratory department technicians


Job Duties/Responsibilities:    
•    Administers all respiratory care as ordered by a provider
•    Completes continuing education and in-services to remain current with respiratory care practices
•    Records patient treatment, response, and progress
•    Inspects, tests, maintains, and operates respiratory therapy equipment
•    Responds to "code blue" calls and assists by maintaining the patient's airway and performing CPR
•    Give thorough and accurate report to oncoming staff at end of shift
•    Provides indicated respiratory care education to patients and family
•    Invasive and noninvasive ventilation, ABG collection and interpretation, oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, pulmonary hygiene
•    Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications


Education Experience:    2-Year College Degree 
Years of Related Experience:    1-2 Years
License/Certificate Required:    Yes
Driver's License Required:    Yes
Travel Requirements:    None
Age Requirement:    18+


Job Requirements:    
•    Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the State of Indiana
•    Graduate of CoARC (Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care) approved school of Respiratory Care
•    BLS , ACLS, and PALS within 90 days of hire
•    Exceptional customer service skills
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
•    Familiarity with or ability to quickly learn hospital's electronic medical record (CPSI)
•    Ability to work with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
•    Abides by HIPAA guidelines

Preferred Skills:    
•    NRP certifications preferred 
•    Familiarity with invasive and non-invasive ventilation techniques
