Responsibilities:
- Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for engineering and site design during all phases of feasibility, design, and construction of EVgo sites
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to develop and deliver comprehensive engineering deliverables, including conceptual layouts, cost estimates, civil, electrical, and structural design packages, plus any additional site-specific design deliverables
- Produce scope of work and track project deadlines and deliverables from engineering partners (e.g., site surveys, preliminary and permit package engineering).
- Ensure all design activities maintain excellent quality control and full code compliance from initial proposal through detailed engineering
- Execute on standardized design and construction logistics approaches optimizing design and serve as SME for proactive changes and updates to these standards

- Track and report on productivity metrics for work-in-progress to meet business expectations and deliverable commitments
- In coordination with permitting staff, meet with zoning/permitting personnel to understand jurisdictional approval requirements and identify opportunities for timeline reduction
- Represent EVgo as the design subject matter expert at public meetings and track status of all required approvals
- Implement continuous process enhancements based on industry best practices and lessons learned, acknowledging technology and AHJ-specific requirements for different regions
- Ensure projects adhere to internal and external stakeholder standards with appropriate prioritization of requirements
- Provide or facilitate design support to general contractors during all phases of construction
- Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including vendors, contractors, jurisdictions, regulatory agencies, utilities, partners, and internal EVgo teams
- Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience.
- Background in utilities, renewables (commercial solar, energy storage), or high-voltage engineering preferred
- Working knowledge of electrical design drawings, electrical equipment, power integration and utility design processes
- Advanced knowledge of site development procedures including regulatory and permitting processes
- Proficient in reading, interpreting and redlining zoning and construction drawings
- Strong grasp of construction cost implications with ability to make cost-efficiency recommendations
- Proven track record managing and delivering multiple simultaneous projects on or ahead of schedule while maintaining highest quality standards
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with property owners, local jurisdictions, contractors, and other stakeholders
- Self-directed professional with ability to work independently, identify improvement opportunities, and contribute innovative ideas to enhance designs, processes, and operational efficiency
- Working knowledge of Salesforce or enterprise CRM systems preferred but not required
- PMP certification or equivalent experience preferred.
