Overview:

Come join Community First as a Activities Driver with our Beavercreek Facility (The Patterson)! 

 

The Activities Driver works as a part of the lifestyle team within our community, The Patterson.  The Patterson provides transportation services including the transportation of residents to appointments and for errands and activities when needed.  This position works in collaboration with concierge and Director of Lifestyles and are expected to work as part of the team to confirm appropriate transportation coverage.  In addition, our driver works to ensure our residents receive door to door transportation services to enhance their ability to travel to and from appointments, and scheduled activities. The Activities Driver will also support the lifestyle team with other community activities, as the driving schedule allows.

 

Schedule: This position is 32 hours per week. 

 

Pay: $14 to $17 per hour depending on experience

Responsibilities:
  • Assist all clients on and off of the vehicle as needed including proper securement of wheel chairs.
  • You will be assisting with group outings, doctor appointments, grocery runs. 
  • Provide services as indicated on the daily route schedules via paper and/or electronic tablet.
  • Maintain communication contact with appointment coordinator.
  • Ability to understand written or oral instructions and document services delivered.
  • Must be willing to work agreed upon schedule.
  • Must ensure passenger transport meets all regulatory specifications.
  • Provide timely feedback to dispatch or supervisor regarding service failures and customer concerns.
  • Check vehicle daily for maintenance requirements/needs and provide documentation when needed to departmental staff or designee.
  • Work schedule may need to be slightly adjusted at times to accommodate business operations.
  • Assists in carrying out engagement opportunities within the community as assigned by the Director of Resident Lifestyle.
  • Inform the nursing staff or Director of any unusual behavior of residents

All other duties as assigned and/or appropriate to the position.

Qualifications:

Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent

Licenses or other required certifications: Must maintain a valid driver’s license, proof of automobile insurance, and a good driving record to meet standards of our company’s insurance provider.  

Experience: Minimum of two years of licensed driving experience. 

Specialized knowledge, skills, or abilities:

  • Must be 21 years of age and have reliable transportation.
  • Must understand and be able to access email, use a GPS device, electronic tablets and learn new technology as it relates to the job.
  • Ability to understand the physical limitations of the older adult population and handicap person and capable of serving their needs.
  • Ability to communicate with emergency service systems.
  • Attend company and other meetings, seminars and training classes as directed by your supervisor or designee.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong Team Player.
  • Training in “transfer techniques” helpful but not required.
  • Must be physically and independently capable of maneuvering in and out of vehicles and maneuver in and out of all types of homes, apartments, etc.
  • Must have the ability to work in all types of weather conditions including hot, snowy and stormy weather.
  • Must be able to safely and effectively operate all equipment within the department.
