OVERVIEW OF POSITION:
Contribute toward the planning and engineering of the systems infrastructure, including the implementation and design of hardware and software solutions. Responsible for monitoring the performance of systems to identify and resolve issues. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
Must adhere to the organizational Policies, Procedures, Code of Ethics, and all licensing and accreditation standards of the position. Must represent the organization’s Mission in all actions and communications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Install, support, and maintain hardware and software infrastructure according to leading practices, including servers, SAN, routers, aggregators, switches, Wi-Fi controllers, and firewalls.
- Diagnose problems and solve issues, often under time constraints.
- Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
- Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with vendors to implement those fixes.
- Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
- Plan and coordinate data migrations between systems.
- Maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to all systems.
- Acts as an expert resource to Desktop Engineer II and other IS staff.
- Participate in the design of informational and operational support systems.
- Develop and maintain applicable documentation.
- Assist Systems Engineering team with projects as needed.
- All other duties as assigned.
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication and customer service skills.
- Prioritize and execute tasks effectively in a high-pressure environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Self-motivated and directed.
- Effectively learn new software and hardware.
- Advanced understanding of network infrastructure, network operating systems, storage systems (SAN), security, virtualization systems, messaging, and collaboration systems, and Microsoft infrastructure.
- Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws (HIPPA, HI-TECH), and how they affect delivery of IT Services.
- Proven experience with troubleshooting principles, methodologies, and issue resolution techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret complex technical documents.
EDUCATION / LICENSES / CERTIFICATES:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job listed above.
- Certifications in Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP), or Citrix Certified Enterprise Architect (CCEA) preferred, or willing to work toward completion within 12 months.
EXPERIENCE:
- Five to seven years of experience in Virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, XenServer, etc.), Microsoft systems, enterprise applications, network infrastructure, storage systems, and Citrix systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job listed above.
- Two to Four (2-4) years of experience with equipment supporting VoIP and Contact Center environments (Zoom or Cisco preferred)
- Two to Four (2-4) years of experience with equipment supporting Wi-Fi environments (HPE Aruba or Ruckus preferred).
- Two to Four (2-4) years of Internet Security Architecture and support (preferred, not required).
