NeoGenomics is looking for a Director of Cloud Architecture who wants to learn to continue to learn in order to allow our company to grow. This is an onsite position in Ramsey, NJ with a Monday – Friday, day shift.

Position Summary:
As the Director of Cloud Architecture, you will be responsible for the overall strategy, design, and implementation of the organization's multi-cloud computing infrastructure, with hands-on expertise in both AWS and Azure. You will lead a team of cloud architects and engineers while also remaining hands-on to ensure technical excellence and effective problem-solving.
Your role a dual focused on strategic vision and direct technical contribution, ensuring the cloud environment is scalable, secure, and cost-effective This role will allow you to exercise your deep technical expertise in both AWS and Azure, strong leadership skills, and a proven track record of successfully managing large-scale cloud transformations.
Responsibilities:
- Define and implement hands-on cloud architecture principles that align with business objectives, personally contributing to high-level design and technical direction
- Design and prototype hybrid and multi-cloud strategies for both Molecular and Anatomic Pathology (AP) workflows, building proof-of-concepts and reference implementations in both AWS and Azure to ensure feasibility and effectiveness
- Standardize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) governance and actively contribute to the development of core IaC modules and templates in platforms like Terraform, ensuring portability across cloud providers
- Establish and build reference architectures for various workloads, networking, and storage solutions, acting as a technical lead
- Lead the evaluation and adoption of new cloud services and technologies, performing hands-on technical assessments and pilots
- Develop a cloud migration roadmap for on-premises workloads, personally guiding and troubleshooting complex migration efforts, for example, overseeing the migration of bioinformatics pipelines to AWS and AP systems to the cloud
Education, Experience & Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field preferred,
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 10 or more years of experience in IT, with 5 or more years in a leadership role focused on cloud
- architecture required
- Proven experience in designing, implementing, and directly building large-scale,
- complex multi-cloud solutions
- Deep, hands-on experience with DevOps practices, containerization (Docker,
- Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Strong hands-on background in cybersecurity principles, zero trust architecture, network
- architecture, and data management in the cloud
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead
- by example
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional and Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions
- Architect Expert preferred
- Ability to travel occasionally
