Job Summary
The College of Education invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Early Childhood Education. The successful candidate will provide high-quality in-person instruction to undergraduate students, engage in curriculum development, and support field-based learning experiences that prepare future educators to meet the developmental and educational needs of young children. The person in this position will report to the College Dean. The instructor will contribute to the mission of the College of Education by promoting excellence in teaching, service, and professional engagement in a higher education environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate courses in Early Childhood Education in accordance with program standards and university policies.
- Design and implement hands-on, inquiry-based learning activities.
- Develop and deliver engaging, research-based instruction aligned with state and national accreditation standards.
- Supervise and evaluate students during clinical and field experiences in early childhood settings.
- Advise and mentor students in academic planning and professional preparation.
- Collaborate with faculty and community partners to strengthen the Early Childhood Education program.
- Participate in curriculum review, assessment, and accreditation processes.
- Engage in service to the department, college, university, and professional community.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Doctorate (Ed.D. or Ph.D.) in Early Childhood Education or a related discipline.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience teaching in an early childhood classroom and/or serving as an early childhood program or center director.
- Demonstrated knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with NAEYC standards and accreditation processes.
- Experience with online or hybrid course delivery.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Canvas, Blackboard, or a similar platform
Preferred Qualifications
- University-level teaching experience.
- Experience supervising student teachers or coordinating field experiences.
- Evidence of professional involvement in early childhood education associations or initiatives.
