Description

We are New Horizons Mental Health Services, a community-based nonprofit organization located in Lancaster, Ohio. We are looking for a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to replace our current CEO who is retiring. We are seeking to have the new CEO in place by Q1 2026. 


Located in Lancaster, Ohio, we are looking for a candidate who will continue our tradition of service dedicated to improving the well-being of individuals, families, and our community. For over 55 years our dedicated staff of 50+ employees has done this by providing care that is comprehensive, accessible, and evidence-based, and includes a comprehensive offering of outpatient behavioral health & substance use services.

What will you do?

Overview: The CEO serves as the strategic and operational leader, and is responsible for implementing the organization’s mission, managing daily operations, ensuring financial sustainability, and fostering meaningful relationships with stakeholders, donors, and the community. 


Strategic Leadership: The CEO, in partnership with the Board, develops and implements the agency long-term strategic plan, aligned with the agency mission and vision. This includes development and mentorship of strong agency leaders, promoting organizational growth, and evaluating agency metrics and effectiveness, so that changes and improvements can be implemented as needed. 


Organizational Management: The CEO oversees all operations, staff, and volunteers, to ensure efficient and mission-driven performance across the agency. As part of this, the CEO develops, implements, and refines agency policies, procedures, and operations to ensure excellent service delivery, and compliance with all required laws, standards, and metrics. Additionally, the CEO ensures the agency maintains all licensure, certification, standards, and accreditation in good order. 


Financial Leadership: The CEO develops and manages the annual budgets, in partnership with senior leadership and the Board, ensuring sound financial controls and principles are followed, and robust reporting systems are in place, driving agency financial stability and sustainability. 


Board Relations: The CEO serves as the primary liaison between staff and the Board, and provides regular, comprehensive updates supporting agency governance. 


Engagement and Advocacy: The CEO serves as the public face of the agency and promotes effective care, awareness and understanding of behavioral health and substance use issues. The CEO champions community relations by building strong partnerships and funding sources, actively cooperating with partners to address the changing needs of the populations served.

Requirements

Who are we looking for?

Candidates should possess: 

  • Minimum of a master’s degree in a human services area (social work, counseling, psychology), OR a master’s degree in business management or equivalent. 
  • At least 5 years’ experience working in the behavioral health field, with at least 3 years’ progressive experience in management or leadership positions.
  • Non-profit experience is highly desired. Additional consideration given to candidates who are familiar with Ohio specific guidelines including OMHAS, ADAMH, Medicaid/Medicare, and CARF. 
  • Demonstrated ability in leadership, strategic planning, management, and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both in writing and orally. 
  • Must be able to work and interact with diverse staff, populations, and stakeholders.
  • Must possess proficient skills in standard business software, and be able to read, interpret, and utilize financial data.
  • Must be able to work onsite in Lancaster, OH.
