SUMMARY:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the Finance Department in safeguarding the company’s assets, monitoring compliance with policies and procedures, reviewing system outputs and reporting financial information. The Staff Accountant is a primary contact for individuals in other functional areas within the business and providing finance support to positively influence collaboration both inside the Finance team and across departments.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
- Assist in ensuring timeliness and accuracy of the financial statements.
- Prevent inaccuracies in financial statements by developing, implementing, and maintaining internal control systems and documentation of policies for financial reporting.
- Drive, develop, and document business process changes to eliminate waste, improve accuracy, and optimize ERP utilization.
- Review financial data to ensure fairness, completeness, and compliance with GAAP.
- Assist with preparation of annual budget (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Statement of Cash Flows); partnership with other functional area managers to develop departmental plans, Capex, and headcount.
- Assist with month-end close, year-end close, annual external audit, and tax return completion.
- Assist in the development of sales reporting and analytical tools.
- Maintain and update the fixed asset system.
- Assist with Accounts Receivable, including but not limited to, managing customer invoicing, following up on past-due accounts, and ensuring compliance
- Assist with entering Accounts Payable invoices
- Assist with filing of monthly State Sales and Use tax returns.
- Conduct monthly journal entries, monthly account reconciliations and analysis.
- Provide department heads with their respective financial statements including actual versus budget, prior year, or quarter over quarter comparisons with insightful explanation of results.
- Participate in key business initiatives, prepare "what if" scenarios, break-even, and perform benchmarking and other ad-hoc projects, as necessary.
- Assists in other projects as they arise.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to be successful in this role.
- 0-3 years’ experience
- 4-year degree in Finance or Accounting.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
- Strong attention to detail, commitment to excellence
- Advanced PC skills, including spreadsheets, PowerPoint, developing charts, and modeling. Power BI experience a plus
- Must be highly detail-oriented
- Strong self-motivation and ability to work well independently as well as within a team
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Continuous process improvement mindset
- Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple processes and projects, while prioritizing appropriately
- Optimize financial models and reporting to provide greater insight and recommendations to business leaders
- Easily adapt to changing needs of finance department and provide meaningful ad hoc "what-if" financial analysis
