Summary/Objective
The Quality Engineer helps maintain the quality management system, ensuring customer satisfaction and high product standards. The Quality Engineer supports quality training across the organization, contributes to transformer testing, and works to enhance the outcomes of Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
Essential Functions
- Daily On-Site Attendance.
- Supports the Quality Manager in the development and administration of periodic training presentations for the Business.
- Offers expertise in process improvement methods and concepts to each Manufacturing department.
- Assists in the testing of transformers.
- Investigates and resolves quality-related issues and challenges.
- Collaborates with the Engineering department, Manufacturing departments, and Upper Management to continuously refine front-end processes, preventing problems from reaching the manufacturing floor.
- Develops corrective actions, solutions, and improvements, along with corresponding documentation for internal and external quality issues.
- Works with cross-functional teams in the identification of improvement opportunities.
- Collaborates with the Manufacturing and Quality departments to improve and update procedures, processes, and checklists.
- Oversees the maintenance of quality documentation, such as SOPs, Quality Log, Quality Alerts, and Customer Service documents.
- Ensures all workflows, processes, and procedures adhere to ISO 9001 Quality Manual standards.
- Ensures adherence to ISO, ASME, ASTM, and IEEE standards, procedures, and regulations by conducting the appropriate quality tests.
- Guarantees product compliance with customer requirements.
- Collaborates in the creation of Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEAs) and leads root cause analysis to eliminate internal issues.
- Implements containment measures to prevent recurring issues.
- Coordinates the establishment of error-proofing processes to enhance control levels.
- Works to reduce non-conformances and errors found during production.
- Assists Quality Technicians in the thorough inspection of materials, components, and finished products, as needed, using tools and equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Oversees the proper execution of Change Order processes.
- Views transformer designs and scans the appropriate documentation, including quality checklists, into NetSuite.
- Collaborates with the Lean department and implements Lean Manufacturing improvements throughout the Factory.
- Ensures that engineering changes are properly implemented.
- Oversees the established calibration program.
- Assists in the performance of internal ISO 9001 audits.
- Travels to customer sites to inspect and repair transformers, as necessary.
- Assists Supply Chain Management with Supplier visits.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Environment/Physical Requirements
The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department in the Office and Factory Floor.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position with working hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. However, depending on workload there may be occasional longer days and occasional weekends as needed. Employee is expected to work the necessary hours to complete all tasks on time and to a satisfactory standard.
Travel
Regular travel is not required for this position.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Quality Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field required.
- 5+ years’ experience in quality engineering, quality assurance, or similar required.
