About the Role
As a Processing Control Specialist, you will play a key role in ensuring operational excellence at our New Century, KS, plant. Your primary responsibility will be to monitor and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to improve departmental efficiency while supporting shift supervisors in daily processing operations. This role requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to driving process improvements and maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards.
What You'll Do
- Monitor Siemens PCS7 and Cobra Process Control Systems; troubleshoot software and hardware issues.
- Track and analyze process and waste data to identify trends and reduce variability.
- Document and log issues accurately; maintain detailed records for compliance and reporting.
- Collaborate closely with the Processing team and provide on-call support as needed.
- Stay current on technological advancements and system upgrades to ensure optimal performance.
- Champion process improvement initiatives and suggest ways to simplify workflows.
- Communicate proactively with cross-functional teams to resolve process flow issues.
- Manage HACCP documentation and ensure adherence to QA/QC procedures.
- Understand product attributes and the impact of processing parameters on quality.
- Provide regular updates on ongoing projects and operational status.
- Support strong sanitation and cleaning practices across shifts.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support plant operations.
About You
- High School Diploma or GED required; technical certification or degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Chemistry, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing or plant operations, with expertise in process control systems (Siemens PCS7 and Cobra preferred).
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to influence and collaborate effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of food safety and quality standards, including HACCP compliance.
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and drive innovation in operational processes.
- Willingness to work off-shifts and adjust schedules based on business needs.
