Job Summary:

Assist the Senior Accounting Director in the daily operations of the Finance Office by performing the following duties.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university and three years related experience.  Extensive prior work experience (at least 8 years) may substitute for degree requirement, but must be relevant to tasks described below.
  • Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations, to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals and to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Professionalism, attention to detail, self-motivation, and the ability to multi-task will be critical characteristics of the successful candidate in this role.      

Job Responsibilities:

  • Process adjusting journals in Workday, both manual entry and mass entry via EIB.
  • Track daily banking activity for the universities operating bank accounts, reconcile to the general ledger and submit weekly report to the Controller for cash requirements.  This will include weekly assessment of account balances that need to be transferred for cash activity and investment.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all university accounts and submit to Senior Accounting Director for approval.
  • Prepare monthly list of stale-dated checks for stop-payment at the bank and follow-up necessary to post payment cancellation back to student accounts in Jenzabar and verify cancellation of payment in Workday.
  • Manage eMarket for all areas in the Transact software, including setting up new items for sale, distributing reports to area leads and balancing daily payment activity.
  • Maintain restricted accounts and generate department reports as requested. 
  • Manage an ongoing collection process for delinquent student accounts by investigating payment activity that occurs after the collection process has begun and assist with the placement of delinquent student accounts at 3rd party collection agencies, with guidance from the Senior Accounting Director.
  • Assist with annual preparation for the university’s external audit by assembling supporting schedules, reconciliations and documentation requests.
  • Assist with survey reports, data requests, and various schedules on the University tax return annually.
