Silver Lake Hospital of Newark, NJ is seeking to hire a full-time Commercial Collection Specialist to manage the collections process for Commercial/Managed Care insurance accounts within a Long-Term Acute Care Hospital (LTACH) setting


ABOUT SILVER LAKE HOSPITAL-

Silver Lake Hospital is a long-term acute care hospital with a reputation of providing patients with a place to heal before heading home. A long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) is an acute care specialty hospital that provides highly advanced and focused care for higher acuity patients who have not responded to short-term treatment in traditional general hospitals. The average length of stay in an LTACH is 25 days as compared to a 3-5 day average stay in a general hospital. Our safe and state of the art hospital is designed to admit and care for the most critically ill patients.


POSITION SUMMARY

The Commercial Collection Specialist's role requires a solid understanding of Diagnosis-Related Group (DRG) payment methodologies, reimbursement structures, and payer-specific billing requirements. The specialist will work under the director of the Director of Revenue Cycle to ensure accurate claims submission, timely follow-up, appeals, and resolution of outstanding balances, while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Highschool diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree in healthcare administration, business, accounting, or related field preferred.
  • At least three (3) years of hospital billing and/or collections experience, preferably in an LTACH or acute care hospital.
  • Proficient in DRG reimbursement and LTACH billing methodologies, including case-mix adjustments, outlier thresholds.
  • Knowledge of Waystar (Clearing House) and WellSky financial software.
  • Must have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Superior communication skills with all levels of hospital staff, physicians, and patient sources.
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on tasks without direct supervision.
  • Proficient in computer systems, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Acrobat.
