We have an extended school year and school day, from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, to ensure our scholars grow at exceptional levels.
The Instructional Coach plays a critical role in driving teacher excellence and student achievement in grades 6-12. This position ensures that every teacher meets high standards of planning, instruction, classroom management, and professionalism by providing targeted coaching, consistent feedback, and accountability aligned with schoolwide instructional priorities. The coach supports teachers through modeling, co-teaching, data analysis, and weekly coaching meetings, while holding them accountable to specific instructional deliverables and timelines.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Instructional Excellence
- Conduct weekly classroom observations to assess instructional quality and provide actionable feedback.
- Model best practices through demonstration lessons, co-teaching, and live coaching cycles.
- Ensure that all teachers plan and deliver instruction aligned with curriculum standards and school goals.
- Support the use of data-driven instructional practices to improve student outcomes.
2. Teacher Development & Support
- Lead individual and small-group coaching sessions focused on instructional improvement.
- Collaborate with teachers to set and monitor progress toward instructional goals and deliverables.
- Develop individualized coaching plans with clear timelines, aligned to teacher development needs.
- Facilitate Quarterly “Win-Win” Professional Development (PD) sessions that address emerging instructional issues, celebrate teacher successes, and share best practices across departments.
- Foster a coaching culture rooted in trust, collaboration, and continuous growth.
3. Data Analysis & Progress Monitoring
- Analyze student performance data to identify trends and inform coaching priorities.
- Partner with teachers to use formative and summative data for instructional decision-making.
- Report progress on teacher effectiveness and student achievement to school leadership regularly.
4. Schoolwide Collaboration
- Partner with school leaders to align coaching priorities with school improvement goals.
- Collaborate with department chairs and grade-level leads to ensure instructional coherence.
- Support new teacher onboarding and contribute to a culture of continuous professional growth.
5. Professionalism & Accountability
- Maintain high standards of confidentiality, professionalism, and reliability.
- Adhere to coaching deliverables, meeting timelines, and documentation expectations.
- Engage in ongoing professional learning to stay abreast of research-based instructional strategies.
- Other duties assigned by senior leadership
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in the subject area to be taught (Master’s Degree preferred)
- A proven record of academic achievement, as a student and an educator
- At least two years of experience working with students
- Experience teaching in urban and/or low-income areas preferred
- Commitment to LAB’s mission and vision for excellence

- Comfort with accountability and the ability to absorb feedback for the development of your craft and the scholars in your care
Whenever possible, LAB seeks to hire teachers certified in special education and/or teaching English to speakers of other languages, in addition to the subject they teach, to provide additional support to students with special needs and/or limited English proficiency.
COMPENSATION
Salary range: $$75,000 - $95,000, commensurate with experience, education, and certification.
