Responsibilities:Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Medical Fitness Director, the Membership Manager is responsible for obtaining, maintaining, and growing Medical Fitness Center memberships and positive revenue results. Additionally, the Manager is responsible to assist in the development, coordination and implementation of an annual marketing plan and membership promotional campaigns.
Essential Functions
- Manages the membership department in the assigned medical fitness center(s) including membership representatives, and others as assigned; including but not limited to recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, assigning work, managing & evaluating performance, coaching/mentoring, conducting professional development plans and maintaining adequate staffing levels, ensuring employee productivity, quality of work, and ensuring that their team meets & supports the overall operational goals of the department as established by departmental leadership. Verify payroll accuracy for membership team, including hours worked and commission earned/paid out. Plans, develops, implements, and attains departmental and personal weekly, monthly and annual sales goals. Prepares corresponding weekly, monthly and annuals sales projections and reports for Medical Fitness Director and Business & Finance Manager. Manages, schedules, and plans the following meetings for all direct reports: 1:1’s, daily team huddles, monthly and quarterly team meetings, and others as requested/assigned. Create, develop, implement, and promote personal & professional development. Attends meetings including but not limited to 1:1’s, daily team huddles, monthly and quarterly team meetings, and others as requested/assigned. Participates in the “Manager on Duty” rotation.
- Personally, sells medical fitness memberships. Develops, implements, coordinates and manages all systems within the medical fitness department that respond to and manage membership inquiries via phone, text, email, social media messaging or commenting, walk-ins, and at on and offsite events. Implements a computerized lead tracking system for all inquiries and prospects. Initiates personal and department involvement in local civic and service organizations. Works with Business & Finance Manager and Finance Department to: • verify payroll accuracy for health & fitness team, including hours worked and commission earned/paid out. • request and order supplies, materials, marketing services, and equipment for the following & not limited to medical fitness, personal training, programs, clinics, seminars, events, flyers, website updates/changes, and medical fitness newsletter • develop annual departmental budgets and manages the departments to comply with approved budgets Works with Medical Fitness Director and Marketing Department to: • Coordinate marketing services • Implement a promotional strategy to generate increased memberships and member retention • Design and implement annual sales and marketing campaigns. • Coordinates the flow of information from Medical Fitness Managers to marketing department for medical fitness newsletters, blogs, website, social media accounts, and program guides. • Manage design of marketing materials including program guides, flyers, business cards, etc. • Communicate membership sales initiatives to various Medical Fitness managers Co-manages the Medical Fitness Newsletter, website and social media accounts. Works with medical fitness staff and healthcare providers to develop, manage and distribute a digital monthly newsletter, frequent social media content posts, and other outlets as assigned for the medical fitness department. Works with Medical Fitness Director and marketing team to make editorial changes, design and, distribute and update all media and communications.
- Maintains record of memberships sold in medical fitness software, ensures payroll is entered correctly and in a timely manner. Responsible for continuing education in the latest research, methods & protocols in sales and marketing. Completes mandatory education and training to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements. Maintains applicable certification/licensure. Responsible for maintaining all required certifications.
- Ability to work variable and irregular hours and shifts on a regular basis.

- Master's Degree - Preferred
- Bachelor's Degree In sales, marketing, public relations or another related field OR an Associate's Degree with 4 equivalent experience - Required
- 2+ years sales or sales management experience preferably in a medical fitness or health club setting. - Required
- Previous health club operations experience helpful. - Preferred
