The position will require frequent travel/fieldwork (80-90%) along the Front Range and less frequent travel to other Colorado areas. Infrequent work is expected outside of Colorado.%3Co:p%3E%3C/o:p%3E%3C/p%3E%3Cp class=%22MsoNormal%22 style=%22line-height:normal;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;mso-margin-top-alt:auto;%22%3E%3Co:p%3E%3C/o:p%3E%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%3Cstrong%3EIn the role of Geologist I, we%27ll count on you to:%3C/strong%3E%3C/p%3E%3Cul%3E%3Cli%3EHelp design and conduct field studies and be responsible for data collection, compilation, and analysis for a variety of geology and/or hydrology-related projects.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EComplete geologic logging of borings and monitoring well development followed by conversion to electronic boring logs and well construction diagrams.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EComplete surface and groundwater sampling including coordination with laboratories, data analysis, and reporting.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3ECoordinate compliance sampling for federal, municipal, power, water/wastewater, and industrial clients.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EConduct hydrologic and hydraulic testing and analysis.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EAssist with troubleshooting issues that may arise in the field.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3ECommunicate issues in a timely manner to team members and supervisor.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EWork both independently on small projects and as part of larger project teams to assist senior personnel.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EPerform other related duties as necessary.%3C/li%3E%3C/ul%3E%3Cp%3E%3Cstrong%3EPreferred Qualifications:%3C/strong%3E%3C/p%3E%3Cul%3E%3Cli%3EMinimum of 1 year of professional experience as a hydrogeologist, geologist or closely aligned profession. Advanced degrees (Master%27s or Ph.D.) in one of the above fields will substitute for one year of the required experience.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EDemonstrated experience with geologic logging of borings, monitoring well installations, and soil, surface water and groundwater sampling.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EExperience supporting remedial investigations, feasibility studies, and design activities.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EStrong technical writing skills.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3ESelf-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EAbility and willingness to travel. May require field work in remote areas.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EPrior experience with Colorado and Federal environmental regulations.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EPrior geological/hydrogeological experience around Colorado is a plus.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EOSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER, First Aid/CPR and/or MSHA Certifications.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EPrior experience with environmental compliance including development of monitoring plans, data analysis, and reporting.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EExperience with working on CERLA Superfund Sites, abandoned/active mines, coordinating with State and Federal agencies.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EFamiliarity with groundwater contouring software (e.g., Surfer)%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EExperience sampling for contaminants such as PFAS, heavy metals, volatile organic compounds.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EFamiliarity with Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3ELocal applicants preferred%3C/li%3E%3C/ul%3E%3Cp%3E#LI-EV1%3Co:p%3E%3C/o:p%3E%3Co:p%3E%3C/o:p%3E%3C/p%3E
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Science, Hydrogeology or closely related field
Ability to assess and classify soil and rock samples to determine geologic type
Experience with Microsoft Office programs
Self-starter with excellent writing and communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability and willingness to perform physically demanding tasks in adverse environmental conditions (rugged terrain, remote locations, hot and cold temperatures)
May require ability to travel
