This role is hybrid and will be based out of our New Brighton, MN location.
Compensation: $67,000.00 - $78,000.00 / annually
As a Corporate Safety Specialist, you will:
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs, policies, initiatives, and procedures to meet regulatory and company requirements.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments of Bell Lumber & Pole facilities to identify hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards.
- Develop training content and lead safety training sessions for employees, contractors, and visitors on topics such as personal protective equipment, emergency response, hazardous materials handling, and incident reporting.
- Review completed incident investigations to ensure applicable causal factors and mitigations have been identified.
- Work with Supervisors, Site Leaders, and Management in completing investigations for complex incidents.
- Track action items and follow up with action item owners to ensure completion in timely manner.
- Monitor changes in safety regulations and ensure that the company remains compliant with OSHA and Canadian provincial safety standards.
- Collaborate with management and operations teams to identify high-risk areas and recommend solutions for mitigating risks and preventing accidents.
- Participate in the development of safety plans for new equipment, processes, or facility modifications.
- Act as a point of contact for employee safety concerns and ensure prompt action is taken to address any issues.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness through regular communications, workshops, and safety campaigns.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
AND
Minimum 3 years of experience in a safety role within a manufacturing environment.
OR
Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to travel 1-2x a month to Albert Lea, MN and other Bell Sites.
Other Skills & Requirements:
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and best practices.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST), or other relevant certifications (preferred).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop practical safety solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and influence employees at all levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
