Position Title: Kids Club Counselor

Hourly Rate: $16.50 per hour
Location: Larchmont Yacht Club
Department: Kids Club
Reports To: Director of Member Services

About the Role

The Kids Club Counselor is a key member of our Youth & Recreation team, helping create a fun, safe, and engaging environment for our youngest members. You will assist with daily activities, encourage positive social development, and contribute to the overall success of our children’s program. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children in a structured, team-oriented setting and is committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive space for all.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and support a variety of daily recreational activities including games, crafts, and group play.
• Actively supervise children during both structured programming and free play.
• Promote teamwork, independence, and respect among participants.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe activity center.
• Support set-up and clean-up of activities and events.
• Model positive behavior and uphold Club values.
• Communicate effectively with fellow staff, parents/guardians, and children.
• Attend required training sessions, staff meetings, and special events including parent orientations and open houses.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in a camp, classroom, or recreational setting.
• A genuine enthusiasm for working with youth in a hands-on, interactive environment.
• Basic knowledge of safety procedures and first aid (certification a plus).
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit.
• A dependable team player with a flexible and positive attitude.
• Willingness to follow direction, take initiative, and act as a role model.

Schedule & Commitment

• Must be able to commit to the full summer schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Must be comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor settings.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Must be able to stand, move, and work in varying temperatures throughout the day.
