Job Title: OBGYN RN Clinical Instructor
Job Type: Part-Time - 12 hours of instruction/week + 4 hours prep time
Reports To: Dean of Nursing
Position Summary:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and passionate OBGYN Registered Nurse Clinical Instructor to join our nursing education team. The Clinical Instructor will be responsible for supervising, mentoring, and evaluating nursing students or newly hired staff during clinical rotations or onboarding in the obstetrics and gynecology units. The ideal candidate has advanced clinical expertise in women’s health, labor & delivery, postpartum, and/or gynecological care, along with a strong commitment to education and professional development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct clinical instruction, supervision, and evaluation of nursing students or staff in OBGYN settings (Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, Antepartum, Gynecology, NICU, etc.).
- Develop and deliver clinical teaching plans, simulations, and orientation modules tailored to OBGYN care.
- Collaborate with nursing leadership and academic institutions to coordinate clinical placements and student evaluations.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and competency checklists.
- Ensure compliance with all clinical education policies, accreditation requirements, and patient safety standards.
- Provide feedback and guidance to help learners improve their clinical skills and critical thinking abilities.
- Participate in curriculum development, program evaluation, and continuous quality improvement for nursing education.
Qualifications
This position requires a Board of Register Nursing faculty approval in the state of California, which must be processed by the applicant. Please inquire with our team for guidance on how to do this.
Qualifications:
- Current and unencumbered RN license in CA.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); Master’s degree in Nursing or Nursing Education preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of recent clinical experience in OBGYN, Labor & Delivery, or Women's Health.
- BLS certifications (ACLS & PALS as required by the nursing staff specific to the unit of support.).
Working Conditions:
- Clinical environments including hospital units, simulation labs, and classrooms.
- May involve variable shifts depending on clinical schedules (days, evenings, weekends).
- Some travel between affiliated clinical sites may be required.
