San Francisco University High School (UHS) is seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable, and team-oriented Varsity Boys Soccer Assistant Coach to join our coaching staff for the 2025 season. About San Francisco University High School
Founded in 1975, UHS is a coeducational independent day school located in San Francisco’s Pacific Heights neighborhood. The school serves 518 students in grades 9–12 and is guided by its mission: to challenge each individual to live a life of integrity, inquiry, and purpose larger than the self.
About the Role
The Varsity Boys Soccer Assistant Coach supports the Program Head and Varsity Head Coach in all aspects of leading a competitive, values-driven soccer program. This role plays an important part in developing players’ technical skills, tactical understanding, and overall growth within a positive and inclusive team culture.
We’re looking for someone who loves the game, connects well with student-athletes, and contributes to a coaching staff that models teamwork, professionalism, and enthusiasm.
Requirements
What You’ll Do
- Assist in Coaching & Development: Help design and run dynamic, engaging practices that challenge and develop players across all positions.
- Support Game Operations: Assist in planning, strategy, and game-day management for league matches, tournaments, and CIF playoffs.
- Foster Team Culture: Reinforce an environment of respect, sportsmanship, accountability, and team pride—values that extend beyond the field.
- Model Leadership: Be a visible, positive role model for student-athletes; promote effort, consistency, and care for teammates.
- Collaborate with Staff: Work closely with the Head Coach, athletic trainers, and operations staff to ensure smooth practices and matches.
- Prioritize Safety: Ensure proper supervision and adherence to all UHS, BCL, and CIF safety protocols.
- Administrative Support: Assist with scheduling, player communication, and team events such as senior celebrations.
- Attend Department Meetings: Contribute to the broader athletic community through participation in staff meetings and department initiatives.
Who You Are
- Experienced Coach: Coaching or playing experience at the high school, college, or elite club level required.
- Soccer Knowledge: Strong grasp of game fundamentals, player development, and training design.
- Active Participant: Able to demonstrate and participate in drills when needed.
- Educator at Heart: Understands the developmental needs of adolescents and the educational value of sports.
- Collaborative & Dependable: Works well with other coaches, communicates clearly, and models professionalism.
- Organized & Responsible: Strong attention to detail in planning, execution, and follow-up with players.
- Certified: Current CPR/First Aid certification required; CIF Coaching Certification or willingness to complete upon hire.
Position Details
- Type: Seasonal, part-time position
- Schedule: 5–6 days per week during the soccer season
- Compensation: $27.50/hour
