- Monitor campus interior and exterior, conduct walk-throughs and patrols, and secure all exterior doors.
- Identify and address safety risks or hazards proactively; respond promptly to emergencies, violence, or unauthorized visitors.
- Support security at district-sanctioned events (on/off site, including transportation as needed).
- Enforce Student Success Matrix, Safe Schools Handbook, and other behavioral policies.
- Facilitate restorative practices including circles, mediations, and conferences.
- Assess cases for restorative suitability and develop action plans for accountability and repair.
- Educate and train students, staff, and parents on restorative justice principles.
- Maintain records and reports related to restorative outcomes; collaborate with community and external partners for wraparound support.
- Serve as a visible, trusted adult on campus, building strong relationships and providing daily support and guidance to students.
- Refer students and families to appropriate internal and external resources.
- Respond using CPI-approved de-escalation techniques whenever possible.
- Conduct student searches and preliminary investigations per district policy and legal standards.
- Collaborate with school administrators and law enforcement during investigations of safety or policy violations.
- Support threat assessments and help develop student-specific safety plans.
- Assist in conducting safety drills (lockdowns, evacuations, shelter-in-place, etc.).
- Participate in school-level safety planning and analysis of data to inform prevention efforts.
- Monitor alarms, cameras, and other security systems as needed.
- Provide support for up to 40 hours of evening/weekend events monthly (e.g., festivals, sports).
- Walk the perimeter of events to ensure safety and act as a visible deterrent.
- Participates in training sessions, faculty meetings, and special events, as required.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Follows district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the campus principal and/or supervisor.
- Duties requires collaboration and teamwork with school administration, colleagues, and central office personnel.
- Assist in the campus office as needed.

JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY
The Advocate ensures a safe, supportive school environment by promoting restorative justice practices and responding to safety concerns. This role focuses on repairing harm, fostering accountability, and maintaining order through proactive intervention and relationship-building. Key responsibilities include enforcing laws and district policies, identifying and addressing safety risks, de-escalating conflicts, and supporting the well-being of all members of the school community.

Certification Requirements
First Aid and CPR certification or commitment to achieve certification within 60 days of hiring.
Crisis Prevention Institutes Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training within 30 days of hiring
Threat Assessment or the ability to complete within 30 days of hire.
Restorative Justice training through Restorative Solutions within 30 days of hire.
Work Experience Required
Two (2) years of experience working with students, and/or two (2) years of experience in military, law enforcement, school security or equivalent experience required. Combination of experience or relevant substitutions may be considered.
Other Skills and Abilities Required
Understanding of childhood development and behavior management is preferred.
Basic computer skills preferred.
Strong communication skills, both orally and written.
Ability to follow complex oral and written instruction.
Bilingual Preferred.
Cultural sensitivity.
FUNDING
This position is funded through a DOJ Grant for a one-year period beginning with the 2025–2026 school year and employment may be dependent on the successful renewal of funding.

Environment: Work is performed in classrooms, offices, work stations, hallways, parking lots, sporting fields, roads, playgrounds, gymnasiums, and other locations students and or parents may gather. Ability to work from a remote location in the event of a district shut-down. Required to work some evenings and weekends.
Physical: The position requires walking, standing, sitting, bending, and stooping. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress. Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
Attire: To maintain a professional presence and ensure readiness for response, all Advocates must adhere to the following standards: Footwear: Must be closed-toe, secure, and suitable for rapid movement. Open-toed shoes, high heels, flip-flops, and Crocs are not permitted. Uniform: District-issued uniform shirts must be worn at all times while on duty. Pants: Must be durable and allow for ease of movement in various environments. Acceptable options include: Jeans (without holes or rips); Tactical pants; Cargo pants; Other durable attire suitable for active work environments Jewelry: Must not interfere with the Advocate’s ability to function in environments where physical engagement may be required.

Compensation for this position is $23.10 per hour to $36.50 per hour (2025-2026), based on verified experience and qualifications, and aligned with the Adams 14 salary schedule. This position is scheduled for 192 work days annually. Additional compensation opportunities may be available through stipends or supplemental assignments, depending on job responsibilities.
