POSITION SUMMARY:

Supervises and manages the maintenance of athletic campuses linked to the District’s four (4) stadiums. Operates machinery needed to maintain stadium grounds and other District athletic fields. Prepares for athletic events. Supervises the receipt, delivery, and assembly of athletic equipment. Provides leadership and training for other Athletics Mechanics at all locations. This position reports to the Director of Athletics.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides supervision, technical assistance, management, and job training to Mechanic II. Supervises and maintains a safe and clean environment for the District’s four (4) stadiums and associated campuses. Operates lawn mowers, trimmers, and paint machinery in keeping the grounds of the stadiums in order. Provides support for the upkeep of school site athletic fields. Supervises Athletics vehicle fleet maintenance. Leads, plans, and implements the day-to-day field operations.

 

Manages and supervises the athletic campuses in preparation for athletic events and plans and implements all cleaning and sanitizing of stadiums during and after event. Provides training, supervision, guidance and safety management to Mechanic II and III positions.

 

Coordinates the logistics of receiving and delivery of athletic equipment and equipment as necessary. Assembles and assess condition of equipment as necessary. Provides direct communication with school site Athletic Directors.

 

All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.

 

KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:

High School diploma or GED required.

 

Minimum of three (3) years of related experience required. Supervisory experience preferred.

 

Makes repair decisions which impact Mechanic II and III and schools/buildings/athletics facilities of the District.  

 

Valid Driver’s License required. Trade license/certification preferred.

 

Makes decisions and recommendations under the guidance of the Director of Athletics. Moderate independent judgment is necessary.

 

Requires regular, frequent contact with internal and external personnel of influence and decision-making responsibility to discuss issues of moderate importance; may require occasional contact with outside agencies and the District.

 

Provides in the field supervision, management while providing technical assistance and on the job training to Mechanic II and Mechanic III positions.

 

Applies, recommends, and implements technology concepts to improve the effectiveness of the department. Familiarity and knowledge of computer applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Google Suite).

 

Variable work environment - Stadium facility and school grounds. Subjected to a wide range of weather conditions and temperatures.

 

Provides periodic on-call support after normal work hours (twenty-four [24] hours a day, seven [7] days a week to alleviate emergency situations.

 

Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds frequently and one-hundred (100) pounds occasionally.

 

Walking, standing, kneeling, driving for eight (8) hours per day; must be able to climb a thirty (30) foot ladder and negotiate stairs.

 

NOTE: This is a grade 24, 225-day position that pays for experience up to a Step 8.
