The ideal candidate will be a rising or established leader with demonstrated potential for high-impact research, demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentoring appropriate to career stage, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from Environmental Engineering and throughout the USF campuses.  Appointment of the selected candidate will be made at a rank commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications.  We seek candidates with research expertise in any area of Environmental Engineering that complements existing faculty within the Department, whether by building on strengths already present or by opening opportunities for new lines of collaborative research.  Hiring selection will be based principally on the potential of the candidate to contribute significantly to the missions of the Department, the College of Engineering, and the University, rather than on the candidate’s particular rank or research specialty.  We seek candidates who are collaborative, forward-thinking, and eager to contribute to a growing program with a clear vision for the future.

The selected candidate will join a dynamic and collaborative Environmental Engineering program at a rising university that values innovation, interdisciplinary research, and faculty empowerment.  Our Environmental Engineering graduate program was ranked 48th nationally and 23rd among U.S. public universities by U.S. News & World Report (2023).  Our department boasts nationally recognized faculty, including AEESP Fellows and Fulbright Scholars, and maintains active leadership in professional societies.  We offer a collegial environment with shared governance and reduced teaching loads for junior faculty.  The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering offers PhD, master’s, and ABET-accredited bachelor’s degrees in Environmental Engineering and in Civil Engineering.  Located in the vibrant Tampa Bay area—home to top-ranked beaches, a thriving downtown, and rich opportunities for collaboration with state agencies and environmental organizations—this is a place where faculty thrive both professionally and personally.
