Job Summary

The Field Supervisor/Foreman is responsible to coordinate operations and oversee workers at construction and/or project sites to ensure compliance with safety, quality and quantity standards. This position Works closely with project managers, superintendents, customers, clients, workforce development and other office personnel.

 

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Directs, guides, and manages daily production employees on the assigned shift

  • Oversees the daily workflow and assignments of the production shift

  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations

  • Conducts daily site safety meetings and site orientations

  • Pre-plans, orders, and schedules proper tools, equipment, and material for project
  • Coordinates job sequence with General Contractor, Project Manager, Superintendent and other trades

General Drywall Duties: 

  • Reads blueprints and other specifications to determine method of installation, work procedures, and material and tool requirements
  • Lays out reference lines and points, computes position of framing and furring channels, and marks position, using chalk line
  • Measures and marks cutting lines on framing, drywall, and trim, using tape measure, straightedge or square, and marking devices
  • Trims rough edges from wallboard to maintain even joints, using knife
  • Removes plaster, drywall, or paneling, using crowbar and hammer
  • Installs blanket insulation between studs and tacks plastic moisture barrier over insulation
  • Fits and fastens wallboard or sheetrock into specified position, using hand tools, portable power tools, or adhesive
  • Cuts and shapes structures, forms, or other fixtures from wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall.
  • Installs windows and doors
  • Assembles and installs metal framing and decorative trim for windows, doorways, and vents
  • Understanding of how-to set-up and utilize A-frame and extension ladders and scaffolds
  • Understanding of how to utilize scissor-lifts to reach high areas and surfaces
  • Understands and adheres to specifications, building codes, and manufacturers specifications
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work environment
  • Effectively monitors, communicates, and promotes safe working environment via safety policies and procedures

 

Administrative/ Other Duties: 

  • Responsible for reporting of wages, phase codes, and percentages to ensure schedule on target and within budget
  • Administrative duties such as timekeeping, tool inventories, daily logbooks, work orders, change orders, RFI’s and various safety reports
  • Works closely with Workforce Development Program and coaches to develop workforce trainees and existing employees

 

Job Qualifications

Education:

  • High School diploma, diploma in skilled trade, or equivalent work experience 

  • OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certifications

  • Stilt Certification 

Experience:

  • 5-7 years’ experience as a construction foreman/supervisor in construction industry

  • In depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment, and OSHA guidelines

  • Understanding on how to utilize construction math concepts

Skills:

  • Ability to operate power tools and equipment  

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to read drawings, plans and blueprints

  • Ability to work under pressure and with little or no supervision

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent time management skills 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Working conditions

Work will be conducted indoors and outdoors under various weather conditions and temperatures such as inclement weather, heat, humidity, and cold. On a regular basis there will a possible exposure to the following: chemicals, dust, fumes, and other airborne particles from construction equipment, vibrations from construction equipment, and typical construction noise that may exceed normal decibel levels.

Physical requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. with regularity and ability to guide, set-up, and support specialized equipment, tools, or materials that could weigh up to 100 lbs.
  • Required to sit, stand, and/or walk for prolonged periods of time 
  • Ability to perform full range of body movements including use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, and equipment
  • Ability to bend, reach, stretch, crouch, crawl, kneel and/or climb ladders and/or stairs
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements and/or tasks with few breaks
