About the Role:

The Food Safety/Compliance Coordinator at Southern Specialties Inc. plays a critical role in ensuring that all food products meet stringent safety and regulatory standards. The coordinator will assist in implementing and maintaining food safety programs, conduct audits, and manage documentation to support continuous improvement. Collaboration with cross-functional teams including production, quality assurance, and supply chain is essential to identify risks and develop corrective actions.  Ultimately, this role ensures that Southern Specialties Inc. delivers safe, high-quality products to customers while maintaining full regulatory compliance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have experience in administrative/clerical duties in an office environment.
  • Must be proficient in English written and verbal. Bilingual preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years' experience in quality control in a produce facility. 
  • Must have strong communication skills and ability to lead meetings and follow up corrective actions.
  • Must be able to work both independently and in collaborative settings.
  • Must be familiar with HACCP, GMP’s, and food regulations.
  • Must be able to identify gaps in process and communicate potential solutions.
  • Must be flexible with work hours and able to work weekends or holidays if required. 
  • Must be able to perform basic computer tasks including MS Office.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with food safety management software.

The Food Safety/Compliance Coordinator uses their expertise in regulatory standards and food safety protocols daily to ensure all products meet compliance requirements. Strong communication skills are essential for collaborating with various departments to promote a culture of safety. Analytical skills are applied when reviewing audit results, identifying risks, and developing corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Organizational skills enable the coordinator to maintain detailed records and manage multiple compliance projects simultaneously. Additionally, proficiency with food safety software and data management tools supports efficient tracking and reporting of compliance activities.
