The Impact You'll Make

 

Now is a great time to join our Team in Ames! We are seeking to hire an experienced Production Planner responsible for working cross functionally to set up and maintain realistic production plans based on the forecast, supply chain, engineering, sales, and operations execution capabilities, & then communicating that plan to all stakeholders.

 

The Planner’s primary role is to proactively satisfy internal & external customer demand in an efficient and timely manner while monitoring all key KPI’s. The planner’s focus should be on the future, taking control of the orders to be executed, while monitoring the forecast and order activity over the planning horizon. Planners are responsible for setting up a realistic production plan based on the inputs and outputs of the forecast, supply chain, and execution capabilities, & then communicating that plan to all stakeholders without supervision approval. This will require independent judgement and discretion to ensure that the business operations and performance targets are achieved.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

 

  • Release new production orders maintaining 24 – 48 hours released to the floor
  • Maintain front end assembly schedules by removing complete and adding new orders
  • Manage upcoming scheduling issues through communication with procurement and operations
  • Review schedule ensuring previous day’s plan (5-6 weeks into the future) is still intact
  • Work schedule changes within lead time with Operations, Order fulfillment and procurement.
  • Maintain engineering requests by closely monitoring implementations dates
  • The Planning role requires a high level of proactivity in communicating issues. It is the Planner’s job to ensure organization has time to react.
  • Meet Customer as well as internal KPI’s or be able to proactively understand and communicate clearly what the barriers ar
  • Working with Operations, Engineering, Sales, Safety, Quality, Order Fulfillment, Finance, & procurement. The expectation is that you take the initiative to work with each of these areas as needed to ensure your plans are fulfilled as scheduled

What We're Looking For

 

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain or 4 years of professional planning/supply chain experience in lieu of a degree
  • Experience with SAP or ERP systems is preferred
  • Proven problem-solving excellent customer service skills
  • Strong decision-making skills
  • Excellent Communications Skills (Oral and Written)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Team PlayerBuilding positive working relationships
