Pay for this position is $30.25 per hour.
This is an Extra Help Support Specialist position for Thurston County Sheriff's Office. Applicants must meet at least ONE of the following requirements:
- Placement on current employment eligibility list for Support Specialist with the Thurston County Sheriff's Office, or
- One year work experience in a clerical position; ability to use personal computer; ability to type accurately and proficiently.

Under general supervision, incumbents in this classification work independently to provide a variety of specialized legal, technical, and administrative support services in the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office. Depending on the specific assignment, incumbents must research crime and suspect information; process a variety of records, logs, court documents and other paperwork; perform records management and public disclosure functions in a law enforcement setting; perform background investigations on public visitors, contract employees and volunteers; enter, validate, and correct information in various computer systems.
Incumbent may be assigned and trained to work in any of the following to specialized areas:
- Warrants
- Firearms
- Civil
- Front Desk
- Public Records
- Records
- Sex Offender Registry
- Evidence
- Investigative Services
- Corrections
Qualifications:
- Must have a High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Must be a US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipient with the ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
- At least 18 years of age at time of appointment.
- One year of college course work and two years of work experience in legal, law enforcement, or administrative support field. Experience may substitute for education, and education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Must meet Thurston County Civil Service Pre-Employment Screening Standards.
- Must meet the Sheriff's Office Employment Standards and be willing to submit to and pass a thorough background investigation to include a polygraph examination.
- Acceptable scores on Civil Service skills examinations, including a typing test.
- Successfully pass a background investigation which may include a polygraph and/or psychological examination.

- Limited to 693 hours of work within any fiscal year.
- Eligible for overtime under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
