The Department of Languages and Cultures, home to the French program, is dedicated to the teaching of languages and the preparation of language-teaching professionals to be knowledgeable in the facts and issues that inform second language education. The Temporary Faculty member will teach undergraduate courses in the French program. Learning instructions will be provided in French and English languages. Courses are offered in-person during the day and evening. The ideal candidate will use innovative teaching skills and demonstrate attention to the learning and teaching needs of the department’s students. The candidate’s experience, expertise, and specialized training will strengthen departmental and campus-wide efforts. The successful candidate will join the French Program in a diverse department committed to student success.
The initial appointment will be for one semester, with the possibility of renewal for future semesters based on departmental needs. The anticipated workload is at least 9 credits of teaching, depending on program requirements and scheduling.
Responsibilities include:
- Teach undergraduate level courses in the French program. Both French and English languages with used for instructions. Additional assignment with the Instructor’s area of specialization may be assigned based on departmental needs.
- Serve in Department and College activities and University committees as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Duties
- Master’s degree
- Native or near native proficiency in French and English languages
- At least three years of experience teaching French course at the high school level
Minimum Qualifications
- Ph. D.; and/or
- Research in French/Francophone literature, culture, language and/or pedagogy; and/or
- At least 3 years of teaching experience at the college level; and/or
- At least three years of experiencing teaching French at the college level
Other Qualifications
Salary per three-credit course is $6,941.43.
