Overview:

GDC IT Solutions is currently seeking a Senior Project Manager to work in a hybrid capacity, with 3 days on-site per week at the DC Office of Chief Financial Officer in Washington D.C.

As a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of large and complex IT projects, from initiation and planning through execution, control, and closeout. You will lead cross-functional teams, manage stakeholder relationships, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business objectives in both agile and waterfall environments.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage relationships with stakeholders, managers, and key software and services vendors for the successful delivery of projects and programs.

  • Provide leadership and expertise for software and/or hardware system implementations, IT applications, and business and systems processes.

  • Oversee day-to-day project implementation activities, including defining deliverables, creating and monitoring sprints, project schedules, and backlogs.

  • Lead teams through all phases of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) using both waterfall and agile methodologies.

  • Create and maintain project plans, resource plans, communication plans, and program metrics to support lifecycle delivery activities.

  • Develop and execute communication strategies to keep business and executive stakeholders informed and support decision-making.

  • Identify project and resource dependencies and collaborate with team members to maintain project schedules.

  • Communicate project status, actions, decisions, risks, issues, and schedules across the customer’s project portfolio.

  • Prepare executive steering committee materials and presentations as needed.

  • Direct, motivate, and support project team members to ensure timely, high-quality performance.

  • Assist with internal communications and resource management as needed.

  • Align project objectives with stakeholder expectations and organizational goals.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, Finance, or a related field.

  • PMP, PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), or other recognized Agile/Scrum Master certification.

  • 12+ years of experience managing and implementing multiple concurrent IT initiatives of varying size and complexity.

  • Proven track record of leading at least four multi-year project implementations.

  • Demonstrated success managing projects in both agile and waterfall environments.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).

  • Experience managing large enterprise projects within public sector or healthcare environments.

  • Demonstrated ability to foster team trust and collaboration while promoting continuous improvement and innovation.

  • Experience providing mentorship, coaching, and performance feedback to less-experienced staff.
