Development and coordination of TU’s Transition Experience Advising Program (TEA) including: coordinating TEA Advisor assignments for incoming transfer students for their first semester at TU (1,500 – 1,600 students in the fall & 600 – 800 students in the spring), developing and managing the Blackboard advising/resource site, planning strategic communication & outreach, and developing, facilitating, and assessing advising workshops designed for transfer student support in fall and spring. Development and coordination of campus partner presentations and workshops. Work with the AARC intervention team to identify and support 1st semester at-risk transfer students and those below good standing after the 1st semester.
Provide appropriate and effective academic advising to an assigned caseload of freshmen, second year, and undeclared students in one-to-one, small group, large group, and online formats. Provide academic advising services to students below good standing and on academic monitoring.
Oversee and manage the advising component of the Transfer Orientation Program including: working with department chairs to recruit, hire, and train over 100 faculty/staff advisors from all colleges in the summer and winter; strategic implementation within and outside of the academic colleges to streamline the transfer registration and orientation process; coordinating with campus partners including, Admissions, Registrar, New Student Family Programs (NSFP), Health Center, International Student and Scholar Office (ISSO), etc., to troubleshoot challenges on the day of orientation advising; lead efforts in transfer program assessment and implementation of improvements .
Supervise, train, and evaluate 2-3 professional advisors who will assist with the administration of transfer advising programming.
Support freshman orientation and register freshman students for their first semester of coursework at TU. This includes a substantial time commitment during Freshmen Orientation in May, June, and July.
Represent AARC and transfer student interests on the Advising Leadership Council, the TU Student Recruitment Council, and other university-wide committees/councils. Track data from institutional executive Transfer organizations (NISTS, NACADA, etc.), local state and USM policy/legislature impacting transfer students and advise DEM leadership accordingly.
Coordinate and participate in professional development activities. Keep abreast of emerging and best practices in advising undergraduate transfer students through professional reading and participation in regional and national professional conferences.

4 years of relevant work experience in higher education.
Master's Degree in related field.
Knowledge of and experience working with transfer students. Working knowledge and practical application of student development theory and academic advising practices. Working knowledge of student support services and programs in higher education.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience presenting to large groups.
Evidence of strong problem-solving skills. Ability to exercise credible and appropriate judgement in relation to dealing with students and colleagues. Experience collecting and analyzing data to make informed decisions.
Experience supervising and evaluating professional staff.
Experience working with a diverse student population.
Preferred:
Two or more years of experience advising transfer student populations.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of best practices for advising students in transition.
Knowledge of the transfer process and credit evaluations.
A strong background in advising software and using platforms for the purpose of student advising.
