Assists in the development and preparation of the department’s annual budget. Tracks and monitors department budget and prepares monthly status reports, including projections for department administration. Prepares supplemental budget requests on a quarterly basis.
Prepares detailed financial reports in order to monitor, evaluate, and report on financial activity/status. Prepares various statistical and financial reports as needed.
Responsible for utilizing the Mesa County financial system (Workday) to perform accounting/processes; enter/process data and run reports, etc. Creates and maintains filing systems for the department's financial records.
Performs accounting/processes; posts monies deposited; monitor grants; balance accounts; prepares checks; compile both financial, statistical and miscellaneous reports as required.
Processes and reconciles accounts and monies collected by the department, including checks, grant monies, reimbursements and other monies from outside sources.
Provides grant management for the Department for various local, federal and state grants.
Responsible for proper payment (including authorization, appropriate documentation and signatures) of expenditures.
The 21st Judicial District Attorney’s office has responsibilities outside of the County financial reporting system that requires the Fiscal Manager to track, e-file and complete reports for the Judicial District. The Fiscal Manager is responsible for all financial reporting deriving from Action, the District Attorney’s case management system, to include Costs of Prosecution and Mandated Costs. Prepares and files appropriate pleadings with the Court regarding same. Testifies to this information in court hearings as needed.
Serves as departmental contact and receives phone calls/questions from the public and outside agencies to respond to inquiries about financial guidelines and policies of the department.
Provides input, suggestions, and ideas regarding the improvement of departmental efficiency and/or to address specific operational problems.
Responsible for purchasing and ordering supplies for the department.
Oral and written communications must be clear and effective.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Demonstrate professionalism, composure, and appropriate interpersonal skills during performance of tasks, duties and responsibilities that take place in this adversarial system. This adversarial system includes contentious dealings (in person, by phone, electronically, or by written correspondence) with opposing counsel, upset individuals that may be defendants, victims, witnesses, law enforcement, or other members of the public, often resulting in mental and physical stresses.
Demonstrate professionalism, composure, and appropriate interpersonal skills in reviewing and/or discussing information pertaining to criminal cases. These criminal cases require frequent exposure to assaults and murders, including, but not limited to, physical assaults, verbal abuse, sexual assaults (upon adults and children), and child abuse. The discovery in the cases will also require frequent exposure to gruesome, disturbing, and/or sexually explicit photographs, images and recordings.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and four (4) years of progressively responsible accounting/bookkeeping experience.
Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
This position requires standing, stooping, sitting, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
Work is generally confined to a standard office environment.
