Job Summary
This position includes specific POST responsibilities, customer-focused engagement, and participation in events or special assignments that require professional security presence and public interaction. The role is also responsible for physically intervening in escalated situations and applying approved physical restraint techniques in accordance with hospital and UCPD policies and safety protocols.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors, including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The hourly range for this position is $31.15 to $41.92, with the entry point for new hires set at $31.15. Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completion of UCSF provided Crisis.
- One or more years of experience in one or more of these areas: customer service, security, public safety or law enforcement.
- Valid California Guard Card issued by the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS)
- Valid California Driver’s License (CDL).
- Knowledge of standard security protocols and emergency response procedures.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to engage respectfully with diverse populations, including those with physical or mental health needs.
- Basic computer skills for incident reporting to include utilizing email and access control systems.
- Prevention/De-escalation training to be completed within six months of hire.
- Ability to work various shifts and days of the week onsite at Saint Francis Hospital, San Francisco.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in criminal justice or related field.
- Two or more years of experience in a healthcare or institutional security environment.
- CPR/First Aid Certification.
License/Certification
- Valid California Guard Card issued by the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS)
- Valid California Driver’s License (CDL).
