Summary 

The Junior Business Intelligence (BI) Analytics Engineer plays a foundational role in supporting the development and maintenance of business intelligence products. The teammate in this role will focus on learning and applying BI tools and best practices to transform raw data into accessible, insightful, and impactful data product for the organization.  Under the guidance of senior team members, this role supports business stakeholders in their decision-making processes by helping to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and availability.

Data Modeling and BI Reporting Support 

·        Assist in building and maintaining basic semantic and dimensional data models with oversight from Senior BI engineers. 

·        Develop simple data products based on predefined requirements and design guidance. 

·        Support data cleansing and transformation processes using SQL, DAX (Data Analysis Expressions), Power Query (M), and Python. 

·        Assist in documenting BI processes, models, and dashboards to ensure maintainability and knowledge sharing. 

·        Help maintain version control and quality standards for reports and models. 

Stakeholder Support and Process Documentation 

·        Work closely with senior BI team members to understand business requirements and translate them into initial report prototypes. 

·        Respond to stakeholder data questions and assist in troubleshooting report issues. 

Learning and Skill Development 

·        Participate in training sessions, code reviews, and technical mentorship to build proficiency in BI tools and data modeling concepts.  

·        Stay up to date with BI trends and technologies as part of ongoing professional development.  

General 

·        Fulfill mission statement by performing job duties with a high level of customer service while contributing to a positive team spirit.  

·        Special projects and other duties as assigned. 

Supervisory Responsibilities  

This job has no supervisory responsibilities. 

Education and/or Experience  

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Data Science, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or a related field and 1-2 years experience in BI, data analytics, or reporting role; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Key Competencies 

·        Basic understanding of Power BI, SQL, and data visualization concepts. 

·        Familiarity with DAX or Power Query (M) is a plus.  

·        Exposure to cloud data platforms and data modeling concepts is a plus. 

·        Familiarity with Kimball-style dimensional data warehouse design principles (e.g., star schema) is a plus.

Work Environment  

While performing the duties of this job, the Teammate regularly works in an office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
