Our Older Adult Services Program is designed to meet the mental health needs of individuals 60 years of age and older. Our team of clinicians work closely with primary care providers and other health and social service providers to help older adults remain active and independent in their communities. Many of our staff have the WA State Geriatric Mental Health Specialist Certificate or are working toward this expertise. Silvia, the below dots are things that I hope someone brings to the job-in no particular order:
· Has the Washington State, Geriatric Mental Health Specialist Certificate or working toward the certificate. A geriatric mental health specialist is defined as a mental health professional who has the following education and experience:
o A minimum of one hundred actual hours of specialized training devoted to the mental health problems and treatment of person’s sixty years of age or older; and has the equivalent of one full year of full-time experience in the treatment of person’s sixty years of age or older, under the supervision of a geriatric mental health specialist.
· Knowledge about signs and symptoms of mental illness, physical health conditions, and diseases that commonly affect older adults, including the various forms of dementia. Knowledge how these may present differently than with younger adults.
· Knowledge about the key stressors affecting the older adult population, including: grief and loss, death and dying, major health issues, caregiving, elder abuse, economic stress.
· Knowledge about resources available for older adults in Pierce County is required, including both formal and informal systems of care.

Position Summary
The Mental Health Therapist is a vital role at MultiCare, responsible for the delivery of clinical counseling and case management services. From patient advocacy to therapeutic interventions, this position will offer you dynamic engagements in your daily work functions.Responsibilities
You will provide person-centered counseling, advocacy and case management for patients
You will develop treatment plans which clearly identify the patient’s voice, treatment strategies, and specific outcome measures
You will meet agency documentation standards
You will meet authorization requirements of contracts
You will strategically tailor effective clinical/case management services to meet diverse patient needs
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral health related field required; Master's degree preferred
Must be eligible and apply for a Washington State Agency Affiliated Counselor within 30 days and obtain within 90 days of placement in job, unless a higher credential is held
Current Washington state driver’s license or obtained within 30-days of relocating to Washington
Previous experience providing mental health counseling services preferred
Depending on assigned area, proof of a safe driving record (which meets established MultiCare Standards) obtained by a motor vehicle report from the appropriate state may be required

Pay and Benefit Expectations
We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $30.10 - $43.32 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education.
