Overview:
Provide proofing support to Lush’s artwork team and deliver great product copy that is on brand, true to the intention of the Lush inventors, and gets Lush products into the hands of customers. 

Team:
You’ll be part of the product content team, supporting the Lush inventors with writing product copy and ensuring it reaches relevant touch points from labels to web, and working with the artwork team as a final layer of proofing support.

This role is a fixed term contract for 9 months working from Unit 1 in Poole.

Key Responsibilities

This is a creative role with dual responsibility for providing valuable proofing support to the artwork team and a flexible level of support to Lush’s inventors to write copy for their products.

Approximately half of your time will be spent checking signage and label assets for the artwork team. This is an important task that requires strong proofing skills, great attention to detail (spelling and grammar), and a timely turnaround of work to meet deadlines. 

The other half of your time will be spent putting the inventors’ messages into words. Supported by the Product Content Editor, you’ll bring the inventor’s messages to life with the creation of product copy that is on-brand, compliant, and gets products into customers’ hands! This may include but is not limited to label copy, web copy, shop signage and articles. 

Your main responsibilities will include the following:
  • Proofing copy at an artwork level, providing a valuable check for errors before Lush messages go out into the world. 
  • Writing product copy that fulfils the inventor’s direction and is on-brand. Identifying and rephrasing/asking for support on claims that could be considered non-compliant or medical if not phrased carefully. 
  • Reaching out directly to inventors where requested by the Product Content Editor to gather information and share with other teams including Training and Digital Marketing. 
  • Checking ingredients stories with our Buying Team for accuracy and recording any ‘green claims’ we make with our Ethical Compliance team. 

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Strong writing skills and the ability to proof your own work (and other people’s!)
  • Able to work to product copy templates and follow the Lush Tone Of Voice guide.
  • Great soft skills, especially communication.
  • Proactive approach to information-gathering.
  • Great time-management skills and ability to work to a deadline.
  • Flexible approach to writing, as determined by the inventor. You may be required to offer support with phrasing, adapting inventor copy for a different template or writing from scratch with their direction.
  • Creative flair and passion for your craft.
