We are seeking a Senior Technical Instructional Designer to join our Product Enablement (Board Academy) team. This role is ideal for a curious, tech-savvy learning professional with a strong background in designing engaging, high-quality technical learning and for someone who has a passion for innovation, continuous improvement, and leveraging AI to enhance learning experiences.
As a senior member of the team, you will act as a learning experience architect and content strategist, translating complex technical concepts into accessible, engaging, and scalable learning for employees, customers, and partners. You’ll collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), product managers, pre-sales team members, and engineers to develop innovative learning programs that drive product adoption, deepen technical understanding, and enhance the overall learning journey across the Board ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and Develop Learning Experiences
- Analyze technical learning needs and develop instructional strategies aligned with business goals and learner personas.
- Design and develop learning materials such as video-based learning, e-learning modules, learning paths, quick-reference guides and blended learning experiences.
- Translate complex technical information into clear, engaging, and learner-centered content.
- Design, structure, and curate learning pathways to support continuous skill development across functional areas.
- Collaborate and Lead
- Serve as the Training Product Owner for 1–2 functional areas in Board.
- Partner with product experts, developers, presales, and enablement leaders to ensure technical accuracy and alignment with product updates.
- Collaborate with presales teams to design training that enhances solution storytelling, demo effectiveness, and technical selling capabilities.
- Mentor and provide feedback to junior instructional designers and content developers.
- Lead end-to-end management of major learning projects or programs, from needs analysis to delivery and evaluation.
- Apply Instructional Design Excellence
- Leverage agile instructional design frameworks (e.g., SAM, iterative prototyping) and adult learning principles.
- Create assessment tools and feedback mechanisms to measure learning effectiveness and impact, including credentials and certifications.
- Apply data-driven evaluation to continuously improve learning outcomes and engagement.
- Technical Expertise
- Ensure all learning content reflects current product functionality, features, and technical standards.
- Collaborate with LMS administrators to publish, track, and optimize learning content performance.
- Stay current with emerging learning technologies and best practices in digital learning design.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in instructional design in a technical, software, systems, or digital platform-focused learning development.
- Proven experience creating and maintaining interactive, multimedia learning content (Articulate Storyline, Rise, Adobe Captivate, or equivalent).
- Strong ability to simplify complex technical topics for diverse audiences.
- Excellent project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Familiarity with technical domains such as software development, SaaS, cloud platforms, and data analytics.
- Strong communication and writing skills with a focus on clarity and learner engagement.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-learning standards such as SCORM and xAPI.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing training for enterprise software platforms (Board or similar).
- Experience working with presales teams or in presales enablement, developing training to support product demonstrations and solution storytelling.
- Proficiency with tools like Articulate 360 and Synthesia for content production and Azure DevOps for technical collaboration.
- Knowledge of HTML/CSS or scripting languages to enhance e-learning interactivity.
- Experience designing learning for pre-sales audiences.
