A Day in the Life of a Revenue Cycle Trainer:
The Revenue Cycle & Quality Trainer provides staff with formalized system training for EPIC and other operational information systems. This position provides learning tools, tracks learning sessions, and ensures staff is familiar with system upgrades or changes. The Revenue Cycle & Quality Trainer will work directly with staff of all levels and collaborate with management to develop action plans for improvement where necessary.

A Day in the Life of a Revenue Cycle Trainer:
The Revenue Cycle & Quality Trainer provides staff with formalized system training for EPIC and other operational information systems. This position provides learning tools, tracks learning sessions, and ensures staff is familiar with system upgrades or changes. The Revenue Cycle & Quality Trainer will work directly with staff of all levels and collaborate with management to develop action plans for improvement where necessary.
Here Is What You Will Be Doing:
• Provides Epic and OnBase training to staff. Provides documented step by step or tip sheet guides.
• Performs quality review of staff work on a routine basis and uses results to identity training needs.
• Creates and utilizes a scoring system to determine point at which additional or retraining is needed and identifies required proficiency level.
• Develops system competency expectations for new hires as well as existing staff and administers competency exams in a proctored setting.
• Attends regular Revenue Cycle and Quality Trainer team meetings to ensure system changes or enhancements do not negatively impact other areas.
• Provides routine communication to staff, reporting system issues, upgrades, or changes in process.
• Assists management with staffing needs within the department to include scheduling, attendance tracking, and hiring.
• Tracks and reports all staff quality review scores as requested.
• Troubleshoots hardware and software as appropriate.
• Promotes and participates in LEAN practices and strategies.
DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
HIM: Assists Director of HIM with collection, maintenance, and destruction of paper/electronic archives from hospital departments and clinics. Assists with development of SharePoint as an interdepartmental communication tool and document repository. Trains staff and leaders on user/owner SharePoint use and maintenance. Creates and revises various Revenue Cycle forms and provides training on usage. Conducts employee MyChart training as necessary. Provides MyChart account setup assistance to patients and responds to their questions or requests.
PATIENT ACCESS: Creates and revises Patient Access forms and provides training on usage. Reviews and reports E-Check in requirements and how they relate to reduced times in registration. Maintains training plans for Patient Access, Financial Navigators, and Pre-Authorization.
Desired Skills:
• Advanced knowledge of EPIC billing systems
• Ability to develop effective training materials, Visio workflows, and competency tests
• Proficient skills in Excel, Word, Outlook,
• Ability to prioritize tasks, use sound judgement, and remain organized
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Here Is What You Will Need:
• Associate’s degree or higher and two (2) or more years of job-related experience
o OR, Certificate in billing or coding and three (3) or more years of job-related experience
o OR, Four (4) or more years of experiences as a trainer or educator
o OR, High School diploma and (6) or more years of job-related experience
Nice to Have:
• Experience with Epic applications
• Experience in adult learning
• Experience with SharePoint
