Monday - Friday, 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
The Exercise Physiologist plans, guides, and directs the management of patients for physicians. This position assists with patient care, which includes maximal exercise tolerance tests under the direction of a physician.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs resting electrocardiograms and maximal and submaximal exercise tests using Cooper Clinic standard treadmill and bike protocols.
- Provides information, collects data, and interprets the physiological responses to exercise during stress tests.
- Assists physicians with their workday including, but not limited to preplanning for patient visits, assisting with patient flow, chaperoning, prescription refills, on-call duties, office visits, blood pressure checks, research, or other projects.
- Maintains electronic medical records, including, but not limited to entering patient medical history, scanning documents, pre-planning from previous Type II reports, entering orders, keeping up with assigned tasks and requesting outside records.
- Maintains and is responsible for all operating equipment in treadmill room and exam room.
- Maintains adequate supplies in all testing rooms and reports all equipment malfunctions to team leaders. Cleans and disinfects all surfaces and equipment.
- Regularly assists Health Screens with administration of Cooper Clinic health screening procedures.
- Attends and participates in department meetings.
- Participates in all Code 99 emergencies as assigned (Code Team).
- Responds to all Code 33 emergencies as assigned.
- Remains on call with physician to respond to Code 33/99 emergencies after hours, as assigned.
- Studies and participates in learning electrocardiograms, exercise testing, medication, and other exercise physiology topics.
- Assists in the upkeep of the supply room, notifies appropriate person when more supplies need to be ordered.
- Performs exercise consultations as assigned.
- Complies with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) while performing all duties.
- Maintains accurate and confidential medical records along with protecting confidentiality of all clientele.
- Maintains a positive attitude and adheres to the Cooper purpose and core values.
- Follows all Clinic policies and standard operating procedures.
- Performs duties on site with consistent, regular, and reliable attendance.
- Accomplishes other duties and helps in other departments as assigned.

Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities

- Ability to work in a group setting as well as work independently.
- Good computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, exercise physiology, kinesiology, or related field.
- 6 months to 1 year experience reading EKGs in a clinic setting is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
- American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) certifications strongly encouraged.
Physical Requirements
· Must be able to lift up to and occasionally move up to 50 pounds.
· Frequently required to stand and walk on our campus.
