Job Title: Assistant BSA Officer

Department: BSA, Compliance, and Internal Control

Reports to: BSA & Compliance Officer

Supervises: None

Job Summary:

The purpose of this job is to provide support and oversight in the areas of Deposit & Lending Compliance, Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Fraud, and assist in completing Risk Assessments

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in business, finance, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience or education preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience working in a financial institution setting preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience in the areas of BSA and Compliance preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Good overall knowledge of financial institution products and services.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Very detail oriented with good organizational skills.
  • Computer literate.
  • Good knowledge of lending compliance laws and regulations.
  • Commitment to policy adherence.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible understanding the basic duties of the BSA Officer in order to serve in a backup capacity, if needed, while performing the day-to-day responsibilities required by the Bank Secrecy Act including:
  • Monitoring reports for possible money laundering, check kiting and fraud
  • Monitoring high risk accounts, conduct enhanced due diligence and submit CTRs and SARs as needed
  • Reviewing additional reports for BSA Compliance as needed
  • Operates AML Software
  • Assist BSA & Compliance Officer with auditing tasks which include:
  • Serving as liaison to external auditors and examiners
  • Gathering and supplying documents for external audits and exams
  • Performing internal audits as needed
  • Maintain a current awareness of the regulatory environment and a working knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Ensure Retail receives adequate resources to adhere to Compliance requirements and assist Retail with CIP and Compliance related questions.
  • Assist in the creation and updates of Deposit Compliance disclosures
  • Ensure compliance with subpoena requests.
  • Attend trainings and seminars to stay informed on current issues and regulations regarding deposit compliance, BSA and internal controls
  • Performs other duties as assigned and directed by management.

Equipment Operation

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, Core Banking and AML software, and the ability to navigate the internet on either a desktop PC or Surface. Use of calculator, fax, copier, telephone, and printer may also be required.

Work Environment

Work is performed primarily sitting at a desk with regular contact with employees in person and on the phone. The noise level in the work environment is usually low.

Physical Demands

The employee is required to sit behind a desk for most of the shift. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to communicate effectively with others, sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle keyboard, telephone, paper, files, and other equipment and objects. The position requires the ability to review detailed documents and read computer screens.
