Job Title: Plant Manager
Purpose of the Position:
Responsible for all Manufacturing operations and support group activities within their assigned facilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Managing the day to day operations to ensure the operations, maintenance, and vendor management standards are met in a cost effective, safe and efficient manner.
- Plans, directs, and monitors the performance objectives of all manufacturing metrics. Including safety; quality; cost and delivery.
- Provides technical expertise and guidance to operations staff and manages resolution of complex problems.
- Reviews production schedule and leads all production areas in completing assigned schedule to meet scheduled delivery dates.
- Communicates the operating philosophy to all internal and external customers.
- Leads Continuous improvement initiatives to ensure lean manufacturing methodologies.
- Assures all safety objectives are met.
- Works closely with QA to address any quality concerns and leads the production team on all corrective actions associated with root cause analysis.
Marginal Job Functions:
- Complies with all company policies and procedures and adheres to company standards.
- Performs other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong Operations and Personnel Management experience
- Manufacturing background in a sheet metal or welding work environment.
- Ability to motivate staff and communicate clear orders and directions.
- Strong problem solving skills.
- Background in 5S methodology
Physical Demands:
Hours: 8 to 10 hours per day Week: 40 to 50 hrs per week Lunch: One hour
Sitting: 30 % of time Standing/Walking: 70 % of time
Environment:
- Office is A/C
- Plant is not A/C
- Exposed to dust, heat, humidity, fumes, cold, and dampness when working in the Plant.
Physical Tasks:
- No heavy lifting involved.
- Must walk around the different departments to monitor production and work progress.
Stress:
- Stress limited to the normal operations of a Manufacturing plant.
Performance Standards:
The criteria for evaluation in this position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Increase in production output and quality.
- Compliance with customer's specs and datelines.
- Reduction in cost of goods sold and increase in company's overall profitability.
- Staff development and succession planning.
- Maintaining and improving Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery metrics and performance.
