Job Title: Maintenance Technician I
Terms of Employment: 12 Months
Pay Grade: 110
Job Summary:
The purpose of this job is to complete general maintenance, preventative maintenance, and improvements of school facilities.
Essential Duties
- Performs general maintenance tasks, such as: painting, carpentry, grounds maintenance, roofing repairs, and assisting mechanical/electrical/plumbing/locksmith/carpentry technicians
- Operates a variety of maintenance equipment, such as: mowers, weedeaters, chainsaws, power tools, and hand tools.
- Performs preventative maintenance tasks, such as: roof drain and gutter clearing, grounds maintenance, cleaning, hvac filter replacements, and greasing/maintaining equipment.
- Monitors and reports maintenance needs.
- Moves furniture, supplies, and equipment.
- Prioritizes and completes assigned work orders.
- Assists with snow and ice removal.
- Performs tasks in accordance with applicable codes, regulations, specifications, standards and schedules.
- Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals including immediate supervisor, coworkers, district and school administrators, staff and students.
- May be required to work outside normal work hours during emergency/on call situations.
- Performs related work as required.
Minimum Education and Experience Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history. General maintenance experience required.
Physical Demands
Performs light to medium work that involves walking or standing virtually all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or considerable skill, adeptness and speed in the use of the fingers, hands or limbs in tasks involving close tolerances or limits of accuracy. Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer, and to perform required tasks; see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels, speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly.
