Value Proposition

As a Patch Associate, you will be a key member of the Patch Management team, responsible for ensuring patch compliance and effective vulnerability remediation across enterprise server endpoints. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, hands-on experience with Unix/Linux system patching, and exposure to vulnerability scanning tools like Qualys. You will work closely with IT, application and security teams to maintain endpoint security and compliance with no or minimal disruption to the environment.

The Patch Management Team is a collaborative group focused on maintaining endpoint compliance and security across the enterprise. The team works closely with IT operations, security, and support teams to ensure timely patch deployment and vulnerability remediation.

Impact (Job Summary/Why this Role Matters)

We are seeking a skilled Unix System Administrator with deep expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and enterprise patching solutions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with tools such as Red Hat Satellite, Cobbler, and automation scripting. This role focuses on patch management, vulnerability remediation, and ensuring the security and stability of enterprise systems through proactive maintenance and automation.

Key Deliverables (Duties and Responsibilities)

  • Administer and manage Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments across enterprise servers.
  • Implement & maintain patching solutions using Red Hat Satellite, Cobbler, and other automation tools.
  • Design, develop, and maintain scripts (Bash, Python, Ansible, etc.) to automate patch deployment and compliance reporting.
  • Perform vulnerability remediation in coordination with security teams to address OS and middleware vulnerabilities.
  • Monitor and manage patch cycles, scheduling, and downtime planning
  • Maintain compliance with enterprise security standards and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and application teams to ensure timely patching and remediation.
  • Maintain documentation of patching procedures, schedules, and standards.
  • Troubleshoot patch-related issues, application/ system failures, and post-patch anomalies.
  • Drive process improvements to reduce downtime, manual errors, and patching cycle times.

Skills and Qualification (Functional and Technical Skills)

Technical Skills

  • 7+ years of experience as a Unix/Linux System Administrator, with strong focus on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
  • Hands-on experience with patching and provisioning tools (Red Hat Satellite, Cobbler, Ansible, BigFix, or equivalent).
  • Strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, or similar languages for automation.
  • Solid understanding of vulnerability management and remediation processes.
  • Experience with enterprise change management and downtime coordination.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of networking, storage, and enterprise infrastructure concepts.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication and documentation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Attention to detail with focus on operational excellence.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or equivalent certification.
  • Experience in enterprise environments with large-scale server deployments.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes for change, incident, and problem management.
  • Knowledge in BigFix patch management automation tool.
  • Knowledge of collaboration tools like Jira, or Confluence.

Relationships & Collaboration

  • Ensure great Partnership with IT counterparts (India as well as US associates).
  • Be available for team connects if any.
  • Flexible to adjust work scheduled including evening, weekend; as per Org need.
  • Collaborate with Business wherever necessary.
