Job Description

Under minimum supervision at a warehouse management system (WMS) distribution center, performs a variety of skilled warehousing duties in either receiving, storage, order selection or shipping. Uses a turret truck or other type of lift trucks as required. Performs repetitive tasks such as put away and let down of merchandise and properly accounts for the items. Assists in the development and training of other associates on the use of the technical equipment.

Job Qualifications

Education: Completion of high school or equivalent. Creditable job-related experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a 9 months for 9 months basis. Experience: One year progressively responsible general experience, plus a minimum of one year of specialized experience in receiving, storing or shipping merchandise and processing documents in a mechanized distribution center. Operation of materials handling equipment or motor vehicles is subject to prescribed licensing requirements.

Major Duties

Performs independent work tasks in storage to monitor and control put away and replenishment of merchandise using a highly technical turret truck.
The work is accomplished primarily in the high-rise storage area where the tasks include operating the assigned equipment down a wired track and controlling the movement to and from various locations. Work includes physically handling merchandise at the various storage locations.
Responsible for the checking and verification of items prior to put away and replenishment and ensure the WMS requirements of validation and recording are accomplished.
During put away, independently assigns the item to a vacant location and records information on the put away ticket covering the movement.
During let-down functions, retrieves the quantity of merchandise identified at the designated location on the replenishment ticket or other let-down documents and places items in pickup and delivery locations.
On a continuous basis, participates in the taking of location audits and products inventories to ensure item/location balances are accurate.
May provide training and guidance to other turret truck operators in accomplishing assigned work requirements. Participates in location audits and/or cycle/annual physical inventories.
Ensures compliance with established safety, security, and fire prevention procedures and directives. May occasionally operate other lift trucks or motor vehicles as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
